All JDM autos apart from VR-4's and 2.4 GDI's were 4 speeds, and all JDM's were Tip, no full auto's

My V6 sport was a 4-speed tip, and very nice it was too. It was considerably smoother and quieter than the 5-speed box I have in the VR-4, that's for sure.

Nah - always in tip, don't think it ever got beyond 2 or 3/pan /pan

Same boxes as the FTO I believe. The FTO had the 4 speed up to 1997 then the 5 speed after 97, the 5 speed is considered a stronger box and more 4 speeds tend to fail, not many 5 speeds have failed as far as I know.

Same with the 5 speeds in the GDI 2.4's, they are the same as the FTO box and known to be quite good.

Note that UK 2.4 GDI autos were 4 speed.
