Can you have the VR4 chip remapped?

Super chip don't do one.

Has anyone had this done in the UK?

the choice is a piggyback euc or a stand alone ecu
prices range from £400 to £2.500 for the ecu
then you need the loom to be made and wired
then its just a case of mapping it to get the base map sorted.

I had mine unichipped & re-mapped at www.johnnoblemotorsport.co.uk in chesterfield. £560 + vat.
did a bit of other work also ie; transmission cooler, timing belt etc, so the final bill came to a little bit more than that. :$ :$ :$
It made a great difference to the car, bearing in mind, mine is the pre facelift model with only 260 bhp. ran a 14.015 secs at the pod @ 96 mph !! :-b :-b

Mine's of Japan do a VX-ROM ECU for the EC5A. It can be an outright purchase or your ECU can be sent for conversion. I bought mine outright through Lube Tech Japan. You nned to know whether your ECU has a metal or plastic case and you should specify exactly what changes have been made to the engine. Mine's will then configure the mapping of the fuel & ignition curves to suit your setup. they also remove the speed limiter, raise the rev limit by 300 RPM and the boost to .9KG/CM2.

The contact at Lube-Tech Japan is Mr. Harry Yamaguchi (Speaks English), Tel 6-6990-4032, Fax 6-6990-4032. Harry can source abything for JDM cars required from Japan in a very short time. All of the after market goodies that I have came through Lube-Tech.

I doubt you'll get a reply - this thread's about 4 years old and Noel's not been online for nearly 2 years now. Sorry. :(

Thanks

never looked at the date.

couldn't find anybody to supply this VX-ROM.

then looked at the GTR owners mforum and found a company that supplys them for Skyline and emailed them and they can get it for me

I just don't see the point in buying a very expensive chip from japan that is pretuned to some generic vr-4 spec.

Buy a map ecu 2 which is much much more powerful and re-tunable

very interested in the group buy, i see that it comes with a base tune i am in ireland and i don't know of any tuners that can correctly tune this?? what sort of HP gains with a standard engine setup does the ECU 2 give??

thanks

With simple supporting mods, like intercooler, exhaust and maybe a fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, a MAP 2 should get 320 bhp relatively easily and potentially a fair bit more.

I guess each car will give different gains, and also each supporting mod will help.

benh is the member to ask - he has fitted and mapped a couple of these to VR4s now. Anyone can map them - all you need is a PC and a way of checking AFRs and knock.
