Hi all

Thought it was about time that i made an apperance! I bought a VR4 Galant about a month ago now and i am loving it! Went out looking for a more sensible car from my FTO and came back with this instead, definatly made a better choice than an Avensis!!

I only have one question about it tho, decided that i need some good alloys and i am a bit confused about which to buy, i dont want to go too big so that i need to alter the suspenson (i think 17" are ok for this from what i read on here) but i just need a helping hand before i spend on them!

thanks in advance for any help from anyone!

Paul

Hi Pogman - welcome to CVR4. I can't help with your quesiton, but I'm sure someone more manageable than me will offer their advice shortly.

Hope you enjoy the club and make it along to some meets. :D

Hi /Welcome

It depends on a couple things:

1. How old is the car? If its post 1998 and a facelift, you may want to upgrade the brakes to Brembo's later on so you will need at least 17" with the correct offset to fit over them. Any standard fit Evo 6 ~ wheels will do for this.
2. Is the suspension lowered? If it is, anything too big will rub and you may need to get the arches rolled. Also if the tyres are too wide, they may rub on the suspension arms.

A search on here for wheels or alloys should bring up loads of info from members who have fitted aftermarket alloys.

Evo 6 on rims are 17", 8" wide with an offset of around +38. They just fit with 225 wide tyres, and mostly fit with 235 wide tyres, both in 45 profile.

For bobby bargain 2nd hand stuff, look at the www.lancerregister.com or for buying new, go for 17 or 18" rims, up to a max of 8" wide, offset in the high 30's and pcd of 114. IIRC the centre bore is 67.1, but searching the site should bring that up for you.

And also, /Welcome

Evo 5/6 are 17x7.5, EVO 7/8/9 are all 17x8 :)
