Are these S-types any good? Would one dust a VR-4?

Yes, they are pretty quick. I personally wouldn't own one though.

Edit: random picture, kitten and Beretta - wtf? Possibly something to do with the whole cat thing.

I expect he was trying to be funny with that pic, but it just looks stupid. Anyway it looks like a cool car to me.

My VR-4 has eaten plenty of my cash for repairs and fuel. How bad could a Jag be anyway? :inquisiti

the older ones had dual fuel tanks and you could watch them going down as you drove along lol

THAT IS SO ****ING UGLY, DON'T DO IT. The grill, headlights, boot line, rear lights, **** it the whole car is ugly.

If you really want a Jag, get an XJR like this one http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Jaguar/XJR/auction-176179919.htm

Or an XKR or an XJS or an E-Type or a Mark II, or any other jag, just don't get an s- or x-type, they are just **** cars

400 bhp peak power and over 400 lb.ft of torque. These numbers are translated into a 0-60 mph time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed limited to 155 mph. Plus rear wheel drive

And the worst thing is that it is a JAG! Horrible!
(I hope my boss won't read this as he's just bought one...)

That's pretty good. Like an E39 M5, but cheaper, and also automatic! What more could you want? ;) Anyway, I'm not buying a new car for a while just asking out of interest.

An M39 E5 looks better, has a real gearbox, is much more capable in every single driving situation known to man and it going to be much more desirable in 10, 20, 50 years time

It's the x-type thats based on a mondeo, I quite like the s-type, nice lines, and ford underpinnings can't be all that bad.
OOPs aren't the now owned by TATA ? I can't understand why we have let EVERYTHING fall into foreign hands - even our water is owned by the french ffs

I've walked past that place in Penrose where this car is. I wouldn't mind this Jag at all :)

I seem to remember a road test done by CAR (SA'n magazine) that involved the E39 M5 and this Jaguar and something else which I can't remember. But ja, the M5 was a clear victor in that contest and agree that it is a car I'd like to own in the future.

I think Jag's are not as collectibe as they once were - their golden age has long since passed me thinks. Mind you I've never really been a fan of the cars from Coventry - except for the XJ 220!

Well, I had all the Mondeo jokes when I had my 3.0 V6 X-Type Sport /pan

TBH, I have regretted the day I sold it ever since ! The car was superb in every way IMO, fantastic to be in and and a wonderful drive.....especially as a motorway cruiser. I would have another one tomorrow, and the XF is on my list of "maybe" cars in the next 12 months.

the XF is a stunningly beautiful car with some really nice touchs, but i would go for an XFR (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/217857/jaguar_xfr.html) instead

The Back and the sides of the XF are a work of art. However I just can't get past the front - Really don't like the 'face' that the car has.

I agree the front is certainly unattractive but the sides and back make up for it enough imo, plus I would be inside it anyway

Having just toured northern France on holiday with the squeeze for the last week, I can certainly vouch for another Jag - the X-type saloon. She's got a 2.2 diesel Sport Premium with the 18" alloys.

I did all the 900 miles of driving and loved every minute of it - and the same when we (I did all the driving again!) southern Ireland last year. The only downside for me on the X-types are the narrow width of the front seats.

As for the XF - I love it! Love the way the front lower crease in the side bodywork wraps over the front bumper and then spins over in the front valance like a peice of ribbon!

XKRs are growing on me i have to admit...but the X and S type and the XF you can keep.
X-type rebodied mondogo, and the mondogo is a slightly better car with more room inside, and its not trying to be a jag
S-type looks that would make an onion cry and baby jesus vomit
XF ok its got a nice side profile, but i dont buy cars on how they look from the side, the front and back is just plain ugly.

A new XJ on the other hand, please when i took my bros down to a local jag dealership, i had a nosey around a new XJ, and i can say in 2 years time when they are worth absouletly nothing i will definatly consider owning one
XK is nice, f-in quick, but i think i would have a maserati instead

I quite like the rear of the XF, it looks like a DB9 or V8 Vantage.

XJ's have always been a bit special imho, always liked them :)
