This one's probably best answered by Nick Mann as he's had first hand experience of both ;)

With standard exhausts, how different is the sound between the V6-24 and the VR-4?

Would a V6-24 sound as good as a VR-4 if it had a Super Drager or a Fujitsubo backbox on it?

I hate to say it but a V6-24 would probably sound more throaty than the VR-4 with the exact same induction / exhaust mods.
(No turbos to act as baffles / silencers).

/over to former V6 owners for confirmation.

Never modded the V6 exhaust.

At high revs, the V6 sounded better. More of a roar than a scream. At low revs the VR4 wins, lower and more burbally. (Is that a word?)

burbally. (Is that a word?)
I think we could add it to the VR-4 dictionary, or perhaps 'burbly' or 'burbley' :-D

I know what you mean about the sound, I still haven't managed to beat the sound my XR4i made (many years ago) with its 'maniflow' stainless system. :)

:lolz:

I think burbly looks the best. Mental block when writing that post!!

My mates Nissan GTi-R makes the best noise I've heard; Low & insistent at low revs, rising to a proper ear-bashing throaty roar at higher revs. I dont think the engine makes much difference [Turbo, NA or whatever] I think the exhaust design & route is the key maybe ?
