I mean my VR4 is fitted with 18 inch alloys and Bridgestone GIII tyres...currently running on standard factory boost..so how much slower will my car be slower as compared with the factory 16 inch rims and tyres ?
Btw mine is the one with tiptronic gearbox...and I wonder with those 18 inch and 225/40 tyres..how much slower is my car as compared to the official time of 5.9 to 6.0 for the 0 to 60 mph acceleration fitted with either 205/16 or 225/17 tyres ?

Your tyres are only 0.91% oversize compared to the original 225/50x16 fitment, so the difference is marginal - by the time your 18" tyres are 3mm worn, their rolling circumference would be identical to brand new 16"s. You'll never notice the difference but, for these extra hundredths of a second, use worn tyres :D

Thanks for your reply Brian..coz for Singapore bound VR4's..they only come equipped with 205/55/16 tyres and rims !
So I thought with my 225/40 tyres and 18 inch rims..I would have slowed down quite a fair bit !
You know what..for Singapore bound VR4's..they don't even come with AYC, traction control or "optitron" metres..you know those electroluminescent metres on your speedos etc ?
Well we only have those simple looking analogue speedos !!!
And to pissed u even further...the much cheaper VRM comes with traction control and "Optitron"/ electroluminescent metres !!!
Ha ha now that you've reminded me...seems like UK bound cars are much more generously equipped !

The link below is a useful tyre size calculator. It tells you the speed difference and other things like the effect a different size tyre will have on your wheel arch clearances:)

I would think that the 18" wheel & tire combination would be heavier than the original 16"(mine were BBS 16" forged). So, if your 18s are not forged they are likely to be quite a bit heavier & would move the rotational mass further away from the axle, which requires more power to turn.
As an example, my stock BBS 16" wheels & 205/55/16 tires weighed in at 37 lbs & my 17" alloys & 225/45/17 tires weigh 49 lbs. (Wish I had bought forged instead of cast wheels)
