I am currently working on a car that appears to have bottom end knock. I have ruled out pretty much everything else, and the noise seems to be exactly what people describe - a rapid hammer knock from the bottom of the engine, cambelt end, that only appears after about 3000 rpm and varies with engine speed. It is louder under load but also blatantly obvious whilst stationary and in neutral.
I suspect that the cheapest course of action at this point is to simply swap the engine, but my customer has limited funds and would like to get a good deal rather than get the car back on the road quickly.
So - does anyone have or know of an engine available now or in the next few weeks? Especially with known history!
