Yes have done before.. Takes some time understanding and checking stuff via google, but can get plenty stuff for our cars.. Just don't forget that you could need to add upto 30% on top of the final price for Import costs .. And also alot of Stuff from there will not be insured while in transit, and little or few things come with any warranty..

I recently used an auction broker ( http://auction-tokyo.com/ ) to buy on my behalf, they receive the goods and then ship to you. The only catch is that they add on a load of fees but more often than not, you pay less than if you where buying from ebay or similar. Heres a breakdown (in yen) of the costs assosiated with buying a rear light cluster for the VR4, worked out just under 58 euro all in:

Bid amount \1,700
Commision 18% \306
Japan bank fee \600
National postage to our depot in Japan \1,000
Postage and Packaging fee \1,200
Shipping to the Ireland (est 2kg) \4,600
Total \9,406

When browsing Yahoo! Auctions, use Google Translate, when searching for goodies, use 'EC5A' or 'EC5W' instead of Galant or Legnum.

what have you done to your vr4

Its reasonably standard apart from a boost controller, cat bypass and a set of Rota rims.

I'd be inclined to take the risk with Yahoo Auctions if theres something in particular you're after.

Another thing to watch out for are private individuals listing items for sale that will not or are very unwilling to ship internationally. This applies to the vast majority of private sellers I've found.

To make things even more complicated, if it's a company selling stuff, they need an export licence to ship the gear out of Japan, or at least in theory that's the case. Some companies won't worry or maybe they don't know they need the licence and will export the stuff.

The bottom line is to check first that the seller is happy to export the goods overseas.

Or alternatively, as has been mentioned, use a broker who, hopefully has the export licence, buys the goods locally and then is willing and able to arrange international shipping and export the gear to you.

Hope that helps.

Do you happen to know more about this KSROM ECU? Can it be remapped by EVOSCAN-like applications?

Or is it just plug & play and that's it?
