Okay, how many of you look at your engine cover and think how marked, scratched, dirty, cracked it is and have thought about getting a nice new one ?

Well, I have - and I went to order one today from the dealer. First, let me tell you it's a special order from Japan.

Now with your knowledge of Mitsy prices, and bearing in mind I just paid £20 for a new VR4 front grill badge - how much do you think one is ?

I bet this is one of those questions that makes you wonder about Mitsubishi's pricing structure. :undecided

I'll guess at £15 -OR- £250. :rolleyes5

zedy1

about 150 quid

Brind

Considering also the funnel piece that goes into the standard airbox costs around £60 ex VAT, I'm gonna say around £100.

Spirit

So as well as your guess, what would you be prepared to pay for one to replace your existing one (if required of course) bearing in mind it's one of the most prominant things in the engine bay and can make a brilliant engine bay look quite tatty ?

Brind

£30-£40..

Spirit
21-03-2004, 02:11 AM
Right, get your wallets out at head for your nearest dealer - it's a mere £22 + vat - yes you did read that right ! ;)

Kieran was spot on, sometimes the pricing structure makes no sense, I paid £20 for the front grille badge and honestly expected the rocker cover to be £80 to £100 !

No excuses for a tatty one at Japfest now is there? :-D

Mine looks okay anyhow. :)
But my head bolts look s*ite, anyone know how to get rid of the rusty look?

Get your nose in a Demon Tweeks [or local equivalent] catalogue & look thru their engine dress-up section. They do anodised coloured bolts, washers, etc, or even simple caps that clip over your existing bolts :-b

Have you got a part number Pete?

Sorry mate, forgot to ask that :$

However, I did check the price twice with different people to make sure it wasn't a cock up.

Sorry mate, forgot to ask that :$

I'll get a new one at that price.

Please post the part number from your receipt when you pick it up.

Is there a colour choice between silver and gunmetal?

Spirit
21-03-2004, 09:59 PM
As it's a special order from Japan that may be a few weeks mate - I would order one tomorrrow and they can all come over on the same boat ;) :D

Was not given a choice of any colour - did not think there was any ?

....... (coz I lent on mine and it snapped - :( ):

A common problem Mike - that's why I am getting one, it's a very convenient place to put your hand whilst leaning over the engine eh? Snaps around the louvres?

But £218!!!!!!!!!!! something amiss there!

Spirit

Okay here's an update - just called my local dealer - confirmed £25.96, asked if any in stock so he said will check the Mitsy UK stock and none in stock however the price on there is £218 + vat !

He suggested one of you gets your dealer to call Mitsy UK to check the price with them in case of an error, but he did say their price list locally is only updated once every 6 months on average.

This is really strange, keep us posted, I'd love to find out mitsubishi's
explanation for the discrepancy. Did they drop a nought or just get the decimal
point in the wrong place?

Gives you loads of confidence in the Mitsubishi pricing structure, eh?

Trouble is, the computer's always right - even when it's wrong!

218 plus vat, seems right for the kind of prices Mitsubushi charge, still remember asking for the price of the plastic funnel that attaches to the airbox and the price for that was around 60 quid...

I ain't saying nothing....just pick it up & go......still awaiting call though  I don't think there should be any reason to recheck the price, once it's ordered and paid for.......hopefully just a call to come & pick it up :)

TSO?? Expand please

TSO - Trading Standards Office ;)

I would suspect their only obligation would be a refund, if the original price was wrong to such a degree as has been cited on previous posts to this thread!!

We'll see what happens when the part arrives  ;)

Spirit

You say that but I know many people who have paid a lower price in shops when something had the wrong label on, happened to me a few months back in B+Q when I got an £80 drill for £40 because of this :-D

ReggieK
10-08-2004, 01:57 PM
I know this is an old topic, but having just read it all, I am gagging to know the outcome. :D

Wirdy - what happened? Did you get the part. How much did you pay.

Come on guys you can't leave the story there...

In answer to your question............anybody want to buy a second-hand rocker cover?

Yes, it came in to my local Misi dealer and was duly picked up. All for the sum of £22.09 + £3.87 VAT. Total £25.96. ;)

Sometimes we do win vs. Mitsubishi

?

If you look at Wirdy's location, it is a reasonable way up the country!

Good luck - I was under the impression that Mitsy UK in general had sorted the price cock-up and were now charging £200 accross the board. Hope you get it!
