I only use 98 Octane, the highest available. The car is originally designed for 100 octane. The ECU adjusts to the octane at this level.

98 Octane is available as;

Mobil Synergy 8000
BP Ultiimate
(NOTE: The companies only guarantee 97.5)

I have run all my cars on the best fuel and oil available.

It's true - in the UK we get 98 and 95ron unleaded - if you put 95 ron in the ECU will go into safe mode to protect the engine - we think you lose about 60bhp.

As said above, the car was designed to run on 100ron. A couple of members here have been into Germany where they sell 100ron and have commented on the immediate improvement in response.

If you have been running lower grade fuel then fill up on 98ron and then reset the ECU - simply disconnect the battery negative for 30 seconds or more and then enjoy the revival in power ;)

Of course if you have a tiptronic this will also reset the transmission ECU - so make sure you go for a good blast after the reset to get a nice sporty gear change too

Run BP Ultimate, as I can't find a mobil that stocks Synergy 8000.

Which mobil do you go to?

Also does adding octane booster to 98 make much difference in terms of power output?

here is where you can get synergy 8000

Do not use an octane booster. Other threads have advised against it.
