The clutch died on my VR-4 today after 91,000 miles.
Is there a decent after market alternative to the Mitsubishi original, and at a cheaper price?
Mine is the 6A12TT/ E84A type. (Manual of course).

Have a search for a JUN one. I think they make some clutch and flywheels for your car.
They didn't make a clutch for it, only a flywheel
You'll have to go for a Exedy after market one if you want something better.

Thanks, I'll try using an Exedy Clutch. But has anyone actually known if Exedy make one for the 7th Gen. VR-4? So far, all I can find by Exedy is a clutch for the 6th Gen. VR-4...

How long is a clutch meant to last? Mine was done at 119kms..it's now 131....i can feel it grasping etc...going of in first..and sometimes changing down into second....there is only a little part where it catches, unlike on some other cars where you have heaps...
It all depends on your driving style.
Mine has lasted 4 years and is only now starting to give.

What are the signs it's going?
It starts to slip, doesn't have much bite to it anymore

Its the same clutch as the FTO which is 225x20x22.4mm which is also the same as the EVO-I-III as FTO owners put standard EVO clutches in as "uprated FTO clutches" (if you see what I mean) so go for either an EVO I-III clutch or an uprated I-III clutch.
I actually got my uprated one from http://www.xtremeclutch.com.au but I guess your not running 500+bhp so an EVO one will probably do you.

Try a Blue Print. Mine cost £200 inc vat. Done quite a few trackdays since it was fitted and another coming up on 9th November at Donington. If you come to view you'll see what the clutch has to cope with.
