i have reasently put a used reconditioned gearbox in my car as i fully stuffed the old one.

and its running better than ever. the only problem is from time to time it feels like it doesnt want to go into gear from 2nd to 3rd but only occasionaly. but always duz it from 4th to 5th. and only when im going up the gears and occasionaly want go into first from park

its hard to explain but it doesnt feel like its coming from inside the box itself as you can tell if its the g.box by the way it grinds and vibrates the gearstick when trying to put it in gear.
none of that happens its jus a **** to get into gear. might be the selecter arms but im not sure does anyone have an idea of what might be happening

Mitsubishi or Amsoil ATF and then drive sensibly for a few hundred miles. (Up to 1000 miles, but hopefully less.) I would take an educated guess that your issue will then disappear.

Your clutches are grabbing more (or maybe less) than they should be and the auto ecu is trying to compensate. Eventually it will work it out, but the wrong fluid will make it take longer (maybe much longer) and will cause further friction problems. Driving it like you stole it gives the gearbox even more to worry about and will lengthen the process more.

Nick, i think its a manual box.
Have you tried rebleeding the clutch slave cylinder?

gears and occasionaly want go into first from park

That's what made me think auto. I have never heard anyone refer to a Park on a manual box?

Although there aren't selector arms on an auto.

If it is a manual, then make sure the oil is NOT GL-5 but only GL-4. Then check the cable mounts on top of the box - the rubbers perish and come unstuck. A bolt through will solve that.

I had the same issue with GL-5 gear oil, put VMX in and it was smooth as a babies bottom instantly.

Nope. But you'll need to remove a fair bit of intake pipework to get to the bracket.

Make sure it isn't GL5, or GL5 'compatible'. It has to be just GL4
