and here is a recent 1/4 mile result. I have only taken it up the strip at Santa Pod twice. The first time I recorded a 14.10 and this time it was 14.17, so quite consistent.

All the best Col

Cracking bargain... im sure many people are thinking how many vr4's they can have :)

Do you have pics of the rear of the car (tailpipes) and better interior shots at all?

colVR4
10-12-2008, 08:32 PM
As requested, here are a few extra piccies. I have also included a picture of the transmission cooler as well.

Someone buy it so I dont get divorced by the girlfriend :)

Freshly serviced, so won't need doing for another 9000 miles. It is just about to run over the 100k miles, I was hoping to sell it before it did because it seems that a car with over 100k on the clock is a psycological hurdle to most people.

The car does need some new tie rods ends and front pads and discs, so I can either do them myself and sell the car at the current price or I am happy to sell it as it is for the even more bargain price of £3499...your choice.

Does it really matter about the mileage? I mean, its a tad high for its age but, with engines these days she'll prob do another 50-100k easily, right?

Mileage is not a worry on these cars.
As long as they are looked after.

I have over 130k miles on mine and it runs great.

Agree - also on a 4G63 engine on my last 6G Galant, I got 180k miles out of it, and it was still going strong after 18 years when I part-exchanged it. These same engines were also used on the 2.0 8G Galants. So as long as Mitsubishi engines are looked after, they will last and last.

There are some ridiculously high mileage engines on these forums. It is not a problem.

colVR4
11-01-2009, 11:29 AM
The key here is that they are serviced regularly and the right lubricants are used. There have been comments about the autoboxes not lasting, which again comes down to correct servicing.

When I first got my car I was concerned that the auto was on its way out until I read a thread about the level for the fluids in the autobox. I checked mine and found they were low, so I ordered some Amsoil and thought I would bung on an ATF cooler whilst I was at it and flushed and re-filled the whole box to the correct level.

It now runs like new. The shifts have been slick and smooth ever since.

The only issue (if you can call it that) is the hydraulic lash-adjusters. These can be a bit noisy when the engine is cold and mine are no exception. It is a fault common with Mitsi engines and when it gets too bad I just give it another oil flush and change.

Forgive me for this but is it the black colour or purple, cant quite tell from the pictures.

Iam looking around for a VR4, but Iam in no rush.

Ive just changed jobs and so am seeing how this goes and need to get settled.

Ill keep an eye on this and if you sell it , well its my loss.

Good luck with the sale.

i agree...my mate had a 96 galant 2.0ltr that had 260k on it...small problems like battery and alternator...to be expected with that miles...it was an auto box as well...

Having been side-by-side with Col down the both fire-up lane and the strip itself at Santa Pod, I'm pretty sure it's Trigger Mauve!

Although I'm not sure now... Maybe it is Indigo Blue after all

Anyway, us, down the strip: http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=23932&d=1223289820

colVR4
12-01-2009, 12:11 AM
It is dark blue (I was under the impression that it was Trigger Mauve rather than Indigo Blue but now I don't know!!!)

You may have been winning on that run but thats only because I thought I would give it a go in Tip rather than leaving it in auto. The best run of that day was a 14.17 for me :D

I work just outside Huntingdon and live over towards Northants, so I am happy to sort something out.

elnevio

You can clarify the colour code from the VIN plate - so everyone knows 100%!

And I can't remember how I did that day...

No wait....

Oh yes, 14.08! /haz :P :iloveyou: really

I'd actually say that it's the ideal mileage because the cambelt has just been done!

Nick Mann

Mine is indigo blue. Trigger mauve is far more purple. Yours looks to be the same as mine from the photos, Col. So Indigo Blue in my opinion.

As the chap next to me at work would say, "there's no harm in being cheeky as long as you don't mind rejection".

Annoyingly...still for sale!! Lots of time wasters and tyre kickers.

I don't understand why people come all the way to test drive the car and then tell me that they can only afford a fraction of the price!!

I have lowered the price to £3495 because I am getting some serious grief to get rid of it. I can't believe that there is no-one out there geniunely interested.

If anyone is looking there is an advert on ebay

It actually annoys me that so many fresh imports and cars that are not known to the club are purchased :inquisiti Albeit for less money than most on the Club
But i would rather have a car that was known for it's servicing and cherished possession by club members that have done everything that has needed to be done to there cars, AND done correctly with the knowledge base and skills of Members of the Club(intake of breath) Than any fresh import or cheap other vehicle from other sources..

FFS ! Someone please buy this car !

Before i do and break it for parts :inquisiti 1 less Half ASS facelift on the road :D

PS.. Hope you get a buyer soon Col.. /yes

Because some people seem to think if they turn up in person as a 'Serious' buyer, and then tell you that they can't afford it, you'll be all super nice and offer them the car for peanuts!/pan

If I was in the market for a saloon, I would be giving this car very serious consideration.

Good luck with the sale, Col.

Still no sale and now started to get very annoyed...

I can't believe that no-one wants the car. I have lowered the price on e-bay to £3,195 as I need to shift it. If someone on here wants to offer me £3,000 they can have it.

I am getting so much hassle of my wife as I told her that I would sell it nearly 6 months ago!!!

I am seriously thinking about taking off ebay and keeping it for another 6 months. It is running better than it ever has and I don't think I can part with it at the moment. Especially as the summer is coming and I am getting my old MGB on the road to use some of the time and I can use the wifes MGF, so I shouldn't put too many miles on it.

I took it up to Southport last weekend and managed to get nearly 30 mpg!!
