T/C seal?

Is this leak likely to be my torque converter seal? How much would it cost to fix, am guessing about NZ$1000 right?

Looks like t/c gone. Take the inspection plate off the bell housing (the plate in the middle of your first pic) and there should be a lot of atf in that area.

Yep lots of ATF there. Strangely though the level of ATF from the dipstick is within normal levels - and yes I am using the right procedure to check it. So hopefully, I have caught it early enough so that the autobox is not damaged. Will book the car in to get the seal fixed this week.

It does'nt take much oil out of the gear box to make it look like alot on the car so yes it does look like you got it well in time.

JUst got mine done at automotive dynamics wellington for $1611.00. (tc seal and 2 case seals). Labour was 1280.00 and he said he didn't charge me all the labour. I don't think this guy had done a vr4 before so it took him ages. Regretting not going to the mitsi dealer but then again they charge like a wounded bull too!/Grrr
