Received my (English) owners manual in the post at lunchtime today and was interested to read:

"TURBO
10W-30 or 20W-40 grade oil should be used for turbo engines and should be replaced every 5000 km (3000 miles) or 6 months whichever comes first".

Having just been browsing in Halfords when I was passing, I noticed ONE 5 litre bottle of Halfords fully synthetic 5W-30 still for sale at £14.99, so bought it.

Can someone please just confirm that this IS the best to use.

As the Ralliart service forms say main engine oil changes should be done at 4,500 miles I wonder which is the correct time period.

Have your oil change strictly at 5000 km / 3000 miles and no longer, for the longevity of your turbos !

Fully synthetic without doubt (and a few peeps on here have bought lots of the Halfords special offer). 4500 miles is recommended but I also change mine between 3000 and 3500 miles max

If Ralliart and Mits state 4500 miles for a oil change I'm sure they are right
If the cars under warranty and you get it done at the right intervals you are covered by warrenty

If people want to get this done earlier no worries but seems a little extreme every 3000-3500 :wow:

3000-3500 miles = 4800-5600 kilometres.

I average 11,000 km a year and do my servicing every 6 months. I was looking at every 6 month to change my oil as this is close to the above. However, as most others would do twice as much mileage as me, they would be changing it every 3 months. My question is should I be changing it these frequently as well. (Considering the oil is older.)

PS: How about moving this to a more appropriate section (i.e. VR-4 Technical - Questions)

Nick,

Think you may have misunderstood my initial comments - as it's quite important I would just draw your attention to the details as I wouldn't want anyone to be mislead ..... the issue is that Ralliart say 4,500 miles and Mitsubishi say 3,000 miles.
