Not sure if that direct link works or not, if it doesn't go to www.jackstransmissions.com and look at the EVO section, then tapered roller bearing upgrade.

This is the exact issue we've see on a few VR-4's now, looks like it is a common fault.

with mine it was making a very loud rumbling noise at idle. also on mine it actually took the input shaft seal out aswell and leaked alot of gearbox oil

Oooh - Well found Brad - What transmission code do the DSM's use - I know it's not a W5M51 like our cars, but I bet it'd fit?

I don't think so. The DSM's have the same design of gearbox as an EVO 1-3, which is a W5M33. The primary difference (apart from ratios and things) Is that the gearbox for those is mounted on the drivers side, meaning that they have a 3 shaft design to make it so that you don't have 5 reverse gears and 1 forward gear.

Would be interested in the bearing number as I have a spare V6 box to rebuild.....you never know!

According to ASA they are different. The VR-4 item is shared with all 5 speed EVO 4-9's, where as the one on an n/a V6 is standard on a whole heap of standard lancers, mirages and etc.

The VR-4 part number is MD746715 and the V6 is MD700207. ASA makes mention of BALL 72 for the VR-4 one and BALL 68 for the V6 one. I'm guessing it is 72mm and 68mm for the diameter or something?

I haven't spoken to them about it, so I don't know what the cost is to ship to other countries or anything. Probably best that you chat with them direct.
