The auto transmission feels pretty harsh, and sometimes feels almost like a slipping clutch. It sometimes randomly disengages and re-engages.
like here's an example: I floor it, revs climb, suddenly it disengages and the revs jump, i let off the throttle, the gear re-engages.
It happens even when I'm cruising around

Forgot to mention that i ordered trans fluid and a new trans filter to see if that will solve the issue. but while i wait wanted to see if anyone knew what was causing this

i hope you are getting AMSoil ATF as it is the oly one that covers all our needs apart from the mitsi SPIII.
you should have paid the £20 and joined the club. you would have saved more than £20 on the cost of the order from performance Oils.

Ok, that should fix it. How many litres have you bought and do you know how to do a full flush? What part of the world are you in btw?

Dominica (Caribbean and not dominican republic)
We are buying a few cases since the mitsu dealer here does not stock genuine fluids. we have a hard time getting parts from them although they do sell the cars to us.
I am not going to attempt the flush myself, i'm taking it to a dealer to do since they have the proper flushing equipment plus they will dispose of the fluid.

there is a correct procedure to do a full auto box flush, but it has been proven that most mitsi dealer do not do the correct full flush.
on a 8G VR4 the mitsi dealer does a 5L drain and refill. but to do a full ATF change you need to use 10-15L of ATF.
if you only do a 5L drain and refill then the new fluid will get contaminated by the old ATF left in the auto box.
It sound like you need a correct atf change to cure you problem.

not sure if you can get hold of the flushing fill procedure in the library if you are not a paid up member.
but then you have a 6G VR4 so the procedure will be different, but the principles will be the same.

After doing an engine swap there is no drive from the car. It has an automatic gearbox. All seemed to mate up correctly. As far as I am aware everything is connected. Have I forgotten anything stupid or could the torque converter somehow have become damaged.
