I have noticed that I get a rattle from the prop shaft tunnel when starting from standing or from very low speed. Is it common that the doughnut shaped rubber bushings that hold the prop shaft bearings get old and fall apart? Could it be the rear engine mount?

I had a similar noise in my Alfetta when the rear engine mount fell apart. Anyone that have worked on an Alfa with rear axle mounted gearbox probably know what I'm talking about. This is a totally different setup of course but there is no question about where sound is coming from (slightly behind the front seats) and it's ONLY on load from speed below 15km/h

Or it could be an exhaust bracket being hit by the Prop shaft.

That would not be a first.

Have a good look underneath for any wear, shinyness on the prop beside a hanger.

Thanks Roberto, yes I noticed the exhaust was sitting fairly close to the prop and we fitted a new mount for it a few weeks ago.
Gonna put it on the lift tomorrow and have a look.
