Hi guys, hope you all had a great christmas.

can anyone help me with a problem??

Ive recently replaced the auto gearbox in the VR4 after fitting a new t/c seal. What a b*****d of a job !!!! The thing being it hasnt been run for a while, The gearbox atf has been toped up but oviously i dont want the old oil from the rad to contaminate the new oil (Amsoil).

Whats the best way to get the old oil out without contaminating the new oil ?
Baring in mind that the beast hasnt been run yet.

Cheers
Frank

Use the same procedure for a gearbox oil change in the articles section and you will get rid of all the old oil using this

Have a look at the way the atf is flushed through in this article.

If you had the box out then the torque conertor should be clean also, so fill up and pump through but watch the level, cheers Louis

The above is best or you could remove the rubber connectors at the bottom and top of rad run some atf through and reconnect.

what i was actually worried about is:- because the car hasnt been run yet, if im cranking it over to get it started the oil will be moving round the g/box before i drain it,. contaminating the new oil.
Or should i connect the drain pipe before i try to start the car????

Just follow the article as if you are doing an oil change . Check to see if there is any oil to drain out as well as when we changed the seal and put it all back together there was still some oil in the bottom of the gearbox.
