You said reliable and GDi in the same sentence.....
Never ever get a GDi if you want a cheap reliable car.

guys i say that confidently lol,i have great confidence in the 1800gdi,bulletproof,the 2.4 onwards are the stay away froms lol
There are exceptions to the rule, but trust me when I say, Never buy a GDi of any size.
They have a habit of throwing pistons out of the block, cos out fuel isn't good enough for them.

Q didn't say she had mechanical skills to rebuild the engine and repair it every 50 metres!
Johny

why would she need to rebuild the engine?

I got a skyline R33 RB25DE auto that she can have. I was looking for around $2000 for it, but I will do a CVR4 special of $1600. That's about what it cost me to acquire plus fuel pump, a touch up guy for some dents, a damn good cleaning by yours truly and factoring in that I have to pay to update the wof and reg. It's on hold atm while I was doing it up.
I got the car cheap because it wasnt going. replaced the fuel pump and bam, she roared back to life :). It's running really well. There was a small issue where it would stall if you sped really fast then slowed down all of a sudden, it would stall. The afm wasn't adjusting fast enough for the low rpm. That was easily fixed by a does of injector cleaner.
There is a rattle in the exhaust, but I have the old bigbore from my legnum which i can weld on.
Gotta love people who don't spend the time to figure out what's actually wrong with their car. You can get some awesome bargains that way.
