Well.. I went and did it.. I've bought all the bits I'll need to do a manual conversion! Now, is there anyone in Christchurch that's done this before?

I managed to get a complete engine, gearbox, prop shaft, diff, loom, pedal etc etc off trademe.

There's one guy selling a manual box on there at the moment, but its missing some parts. Either loom or cables.

Yep, but the description sounds pretty accurate, so I'd say its just the category is wrong. A lot of muppets out there!

Mine is from a manual vr4.

Alan - this answer is probably UK specific (99.9% of V6's in the UK are FWD not 4WD) but:

A V6 box will not have the fiment for the transfer box. Your car will not be 4WD any more, but still carrying around all the weight. Ther'd need to be further modification to the rear diff/prop and your VR4 clutch won't fit the V6 box, you have to hybridise the clutch between VR4 and V6.

I realise that in NZ the ST-R box will most likely fit the VR4, so could be good to buy, but I honestly don't know the answer.
