I am having a hard time finding the part# for the two parts I need. I need part#'s for a 97 Vr4 manual gearbox input shaft and ring gear (the one that mesh's with the input shaft, I believe its the centre diff ring gear)

Can anyone help me with this? it is very hard for me to locate this info as I am in the US.

Do you perhaps mean the output shaft, as that is the one that meets with that gear?

The internals are the same design as the 5 speed Evo box. The ratios aren't all the same though. If you can find someone around you that understands the Evo boxes, then armed with the gear ratios off the specs page on this site, he should be able to get you the parts using that info and knowledge of the Evo box.

Not the easiest route, but it will work if you have an Evo specialist you can get hold of.

the problem is the US EVO final drive ratio is much much higher than the VR4. Thats why I am looking for the VR4 input shaft part# and ring gear part#

The final drive is not on the input shaft? The input shaft is the one that the clutch drives. The final drive is on the output shaft and whatever the shaft is called that feeds that. (Lay shaft?)

I apologize for my misunderstanding. I need the part# for the output shaft and the center ring gear. I beleive the center ring gear is what drives the output shaft as the ring gear is attached to that "lay shaft"

thanks for clearing that up for my Nick, I am new to the tranmission internals.

I'm no expert myself, so take my technical knowledge with a pinch of salt!

Bradc will be able to let you know the part numbers. I could but I may give you the wrong numbers.

I've tried to find these numbers before and got stuck.

I think the smaller of the gears is actually a part of the Lay shaft? The larger gear is bolted to the output shaft assembly, which also seems to house the front diff.

The output shaft is MD749217 which is now replaced with MD748306. These are used in the later VR4's there is an earlier part number . I not confident enough to know what the other one is

Part code for the output shaft is MD749217 or MD748306 as Peter said. The crown wheel of 'diff drive gear' is MD770339

Hmm, the transfer to the new site seems to be breaking images at the moment. I'll send a message to the boss!

The transfer isn't doing that (and as far as I know, it isn't happening at present) it is most likely a problem caused by HU dicking us around.

No point in fixing it until we move host, as I am sure HU will manage to put us back to square 1 at some point in the mean time.
