boost levels??

i have a stock e84 vr4 and was wondering what are the safe boost levels i could run with just adding a manual boost controller. i know it comes stock with low boost levels, i really want to avoid detonation!!!!

I have personal experience with the E84A VR4, stock is about 7 psi & I would recommend no more than 12psi on your MBC. I ran that for at least a year and then got greedy for more. I installed Haltech engine management, 3" exhaust, intake & fuel controller and overboosted to 20 psi while racing an Evo 4 and melted two pistons. (13.8 1/4mile at 97 mph) 12 psi is safe.
