My cars going to the garage to ger its TC seal replaced tomorrow/wednesday. They should have the box removed by late afternoon tomorrow, but their gearbox specialist has said that there is a chance I may need a new torque converter also (Something about it not resealing properly or something).

Does this sound like BS to get more labour for working on the car or is this a serious point?

If it is neccesary to have 1 does anyone have 1 availible and how much/ how quickly can you get it here (I wont no if i need it till tomorrow afternoon).

I have never had to change the TC at the same time as doing the seal.

Sounds like /yes

If you never had any issues apart from a leak, and kept it well topped up while it was  Then there would be no reason to change it :inquisiti

Okay thankyou ill just get them to do the seal. Im taking out warranty cover once its done anyway now so if it turns out it does need replacing as im not the one going to pay for it it doesnt botehr me if they have to strop the car down again.

why dont you get the AA breakown and repairs cover instead? Its about 90 quid for the year, they cover nearly everything bar consumables, you can claim five times in a year and you pay a 25 quid excess. Plus you can pay monthly.

Ill be taking this out shortly

The TC has to come out to do the seal anyway, so the labour cost should have nothing to do with it.

And I too don't understand why the TC would need replacing. Unless they think that the TC itself is the leakage problem rather than the seal. I would be more than a bit suprised if that were the case.
