After the Migration over to the new server, I think this would be a great function to be integrated into the ClubVR4 forums. It won't actually work on the current vBulletin as the current 3.5.3 as it's quite old..

But once we are moved over to the new Vbulletin 3.8.2 it could be intergrated into it.

What are peoples thoughts on the matter ?

I have entered a Poll Option /yes

To be honest I don't feel I've been a member long enough to make a judgemental decision such as this. I feel it should really be up to the long established experienced members who have a lot of knowlege of whats gone before.

i presume that if i enter a question like What is the Max Boost? this function will stop me posting a new thread but points me to the many threads that have already been started.

is that the gist of it?

Pretty much spot on Dave. Although you'd still be allowed to post the new thread, just that before you do, it'll suggest the similar threads already in existence.

sound Perfect for those "search shy Threadsters" so to speak.

It doesn't actually stop you posting the New Thread. But once you have entered the title, it displays a list of already current threads that are pertaining to your thread title.

I have voted in favour . Especially as there are a number of subjects that have been opened and closed.

I appreciate perhaps there are extensions, but that's the beauty of being able to add the the existing thread rather than having 15!

Seems like a good idea. Surprised though that it's only had 500 or so downloads. I'm sure it is something to be welcomed once the changeover is complete and tested as running OK

<techie-fox>There's no modern day technical reason NOT to implement AJAX in websites, ALL of the popular browsers support javascript and AJAX requests.</techie-fox>

I vote yes ;)

where is the mentioned:-
just like the 'similar threads' function that you can normally find under an already posted thread.

Passage from AJAX link:-
"This Add-on will grab the thread title the user typed in and it will load a small box (using Ajax magic ) with 5 similar threads just like the 'similar threads' function that you can normally find under an already posted thread."

does that mean you will have to enable this function before using the merge thrads funtion.
