I'm sure this has been discussed COUNTLESS times, but the term ECU (alongside facelift ect) has been used SO many times on here.

In this case search is most certainly NOT my friend.

So, to simply ask -

If I have an auto pre facelift car I get 260 bhp - correct?
The auto facelift car gets 280 bhp - correct?
If I get a facelift ECU and simply replace my current ECU with it, it will give me the extra 20bhp - correct?

If all these are correct, how much is a second hand facelift ECU, preferable 1 of the ones with the remappable processor.

Some people say that.

However, there are other small differences, including a different throttle body with a bigger port, and a bigger inlet hole to the inlet manifold.

I don't think anyone has actually rolling roaded their standard prefacelift, swapped the ecu and done the same again.

Everyone I remember doing it has measured results with the seat-of-the-pants meter and has come back smiling. So there must be a gain somewhere!

Yes you will get an extra 20hp, now that they can be cracked expect to pay alot.

Just fit a boost controller! Much easier and cheaper, IMO!

Combining a facelift ecu with a prefacelift auto ecu may not help as keith's(keithatport) car had a definite reduction in boost with it fitted when we swapped gearboxes. The performance drop was noticable.

if anyone has a facelift ecu, i would be willing to try and pre verses post facelift ECU test, at the rolling road day 6th june.

i will have to get my ECU power/rest switch set before then but it is doable. This switch will cut power to the engine ECU only and leave a A/T ecu still powered so no gear box learning everytime you rest error codes. but as i say i have not looked into it yet so there might be some snags to iron out.

where does the ecu sit in a legnum?

On top of the propshaft tunnel and behind the stereo. Remove the side panels to access it. Auto ecu and srs ecu are below it if you have an auto
