Hi all. I have just joined and am looking around the site - seems good!

I recently bought a Galant 2.5 Sport (2001 Y reg). Very nice car but tends to roll a bit on fast bends:rolleyes3 does anyone know of a suspension mod to stabilise the car?

Regards 'n stuff.

/Welcome

And excellent decision on signing up as a full member!

Easiest suspension mod is to fit a VR-4 strut brace (i.e. between the two front suspension tower tops) and you will find it to be a significant improvement! Have a look in the Parts For Sale forum, there may be one or two available (I think Peter Thomson might have one? :deal2:).

Finally, pictures are compulsory! :D

I also think a VR4 anti-roll(sway) bar is somewhat stiffer that the V6 one. I think Peter might have one of those as well. ??

Oh and welcome to the mad house.:uhoh:

Welcome along! I can can second the front strut brace option.

I've a V6, like yours - I bought a VR4 strut brace off a member on here, fitted it and the car is far tighter on the roll and front end.

Photos of how mine looks are below:

A search for Eibach and Bilstein as well as strut brace should point you in the right direction :coat

... or just get used to mammoth understeer lift off oversteer - it's a skill!/rally

Wow!! Thanks for all that welcome. It's sooo nice to be wanted! OK, I will look into the methods of tightening things up shortly. Two things I must do :- 1. find out how to PM people; and two replace the wishbones on my Lotus M100 Elan!!! Then I can save up for the Mitzi mods.

Again, thanks for the welcome guys.

You PM people by going to PMs at top right just beside your user name & then send PM as easy as that.

Yes, they are pretty little beasts and have a good turn of speed, maxing at about 140mph. Not bad for a 1.6 Isuzu/Lotus 4 pot transverse lump. Mine, as is most common, is the turbo version, but the N/A just takes a bit longer to get there. Trouble is you climb down into it and ride with your a**e a few inches off the road. The road holding is simply unbelievable! Another trouble is the rear lower wishbones rust quickly and can become lethal. New ones, albeit in stainless, go for £700 (nearly 900 from Lotus).....

Getting out (if you have arthritis like me) is almost impossible, which is why I bought my lovely Galant V6 Sport./Steeringw
