I want a set but not sure about the LHD/RHD situation. I actually need LHD so an American company makes sense to me. I want the dual projectors, not fussed about halos.

These are the ones for me :

Sorry, group buys tend not to work too well for me, too much additional cost in taxes and shipping.

I like them, a compromise on the cibies. Do they do a set for the RHD JDM version? ie the single piece unit? With the £ getting stronger by the day........

Mike

edit: if you need anything bringing it shouldnt be a problem.

What puts me off on the ebay ones is the mention of professional installation, oh and im unsure on those three LED's

They probable say professional installation to cover there a**e just in case they get damaged etc. I like the LED's

the depo ones are made to order, in a JDM or USDM housing, depending on which you choose,

and you can have either RHD or LHD setup as there custom built.

Beastlee
04-06-2009, 07:12 AM
The ones I linked to on ebay are usdm so don't fit as I'm aware. I'd love them if it wasn't for the LEDs, too bling for me.
I'm very tempted with the others from Depot as I need to change the damaged passenger one anyway.

are they not a two piece unit you have linked to? i thought all the JDM's were a single unit light and signal?

Well spotted Mike,

I think its this one that will fit like the JDM single unit light fitting...

It's quite easy to convert projectors from LHD to RHD - you just need to turn the shield around.

hmm...I very much like those headlights from ebay US. :smitten:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-03-MITSUBISHI-GALANT-LED-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-BLACK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a12Q7c66Q3a2 Q7c39Q3a1Q7c72Q3a1205Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293 Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZit em439880c978QQitemZ290321385848QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5 fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

If you see the pictures you will recognize that they don't fit properly on an USDM Galant (see the gap between fender and frontbumper. So I assume they might fit our cars.

Has anyone an idea what is different between JDM and USDM headlight/fender/frontbumper? Any /Camera2 to show? ;)

Atik
04-06-2009, 11:58 AM
I think the ebay ones are USDM spec. The indicator area is narrower.

The JDM and Euro spec ones are all the same height along the light fitting until they curve at the indicator. The USDM ones have a small angle and get shorter along the front face as you approach the indicator.

Atik
04-06-2009, 12:16 PM
Ok, I'll try posting some clear headlight pics...

JDM Spec Legnum
http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/uploaded/50445/1237665816.jpg

Doh, how do I get the second two pics to show up here!?!

The front face on the Euro spec and JDM spec are all the same height along the front face.
The Euro spec has separate indicator and the JDM one is a single unit - which we all knew ;)
And as far as I know, the Euro and JDM lights are interchangeable? The USDM ones will probably fit but you will be left with a gap between the panels!

Beastlee

are they not a two piece unit you have linked to? i thought all the JDM's were a single unit light and signal?

They do appear to be two piece ones, however as I have two piece now they are exactly what I need. In fact I prefer the glass fronted two piece units.

Here's what you wanted :

uploaded/50445/1237665816.jpguploaded/50445/1213978864.jpg

Just wrap the part of the url from 'uploaded' in IMG2 links for example pic 1 above is

Thanks for the pics. JDM and EuroSpec headlights are interchargeable. Have done that to get my Legnum street legal in Germany :D

So you mean that the indicator might fir but you will have a gap to the bumper?

Yep, mine too. I had to get Depo standard LHD lamps and indicators for mine which fit although the quality means they don't fit perfectly.

I bought an extra set of RHD VR4 lamps to convert but I mught just sell them on and use the money to buy some of those above as I already have HID bulbs.

I just had this email back from Depot lights!

''hello if i can get sales of at least 8-10 people i can do the lights for $250 shipped to each person. shipping is per item so it would not matter if it all went to one person or if it went to the different buyers, i have them for your cars let me know how i can help, they are built to order and you can choose what color of halos (white, red, blue, yellow, green, purple) you want and either hi or lo h1 or h7 projector to be installed thanks.''

Thats a good price  :shout:

Beastlee

Definitely up for it from me too. I've been away the last 24hrs so will go see if a group buy thread is on.

Mike which ones were you asking about?

miller
06-06-2009, 05:28 PM
Is everyone after the same then i take it, halo style to accomodate our ususal H1 and H7 style bulbs?

Beastlee
06-06-2009, 07:53 PM
Mike, I'm not sure I am after the same as everyone else, I'm not even sure what specific ones are being discussed. I was after twin projectors to match out standard bulbs but I don't the orange bit in the indicator. I have two piece lamps now with clear indicators and don't want to go back to the orangey bit. I'm also not so keen on the halos as they are a little last year, however, the ones built into the projector lenses look OK.
As per my first post the ones best suited to me are http://depoautolights.com/mitsubishi-galant-9800-0305-ccfl-projector-headlights-p-2879.html?osCsid=bc6e20134decdf6040f08d3455af16fa
If the genuine VR4 ones are available as twin projectors and no orange then they would be OK too. I also need mine to be built in LHD mode, not RHD, and shipped to Germany.

After some thought and as much as I am not particularly a fan of the 'angel eyes' on anything other that an E39 5 Series, I will be wanting to go for the dual halo dual projector lights in the JDM Spec single piece light fitting.

Just to let you all know...

I wasn't really happy with quality of Depo lights in terms of their custom made/hand-work.
Sorry, but I had to disassembly mine and do some corrections.
Actually nowadays, those build myself from eBay kit costed 200 USD plus shipping, but look much better.

Beastlee
12-06-2009, 08:31 AM
Swinks,

I must admit I wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the standard Depo replacment lights I have fitted. The fit of the indicator unit to the main housing is poor and overall finish isn't great but that's why they are a quarter of the price of Mitusbishi units. These projector units at $250 are fantastic value and saves many of us the time needed to work on building our own.

swinks
12-06-2009, 09:17 AM
Yes, agree.
I said that just to make people aware of quality, 'cos those headlights look much better on pictures than in reality.

Beastlee

Don't get me wrong, quality isn't great but you can see from most of my pics that they certainly function correctly and look great once fitted. There's perhaps just a couple of places they could fit better.

swinks
12-06-2009, 02:45 PM
Well, my issue was:
projector unit was covered by alluminium selfadhesive foil, there was huge (in my standards) "hole" or space between a mirror and projector. Angel eyes made from cheap CCFL white pipes.
Looked all right from a distance, but in close distance look awful, cheap, and really hand-made.
Overall, price was 230 USD for 1-projector unit (hi beam remained as regular).
Here's picture of Depo unit after my altering:
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk120/swinks_UK/Mitsumaniaki/S6301301.jpg

Now, I've built myself projectors from eBay kit. Same unit as Depo (1-projector only for headlamp) should cost no more than 150 USD incl. shipping.
Mine was build as double projector headlights. More here:
http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38558
Here final results:
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk120/swinks_UK/projectors/P1030190.jpg

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk120/swinks_UK/projectors/P1030192.jpg

That's why I'm saying to be aware of quality.
Final word is yours...:D
