While I have a little time on my hands I thought I might collate all the info on the VR4 ECU Pinout and throw this Diagram together.

uploaded/57846/1246380486.jpg

This Pinout Diagram is only applicable to the VR4 ECU on 6A13TT - EC5A / EC5W

I have also attached full sized PDF for the visually challenged members.

Interesting - two speed pulse lines?
What's a "dual pressure switch"?
I assume UnAssigned means Not Connected?
Also wondering what an "Idle Switch" is? Accelerator pedal switch, maybe?

Steve, I've editted the attachments to reflect Not Connected, the rest is explanations/wording from other sources which I have just checked against known pin-outs wording here on CVR4 and editted accordingly, the harness and ECU I have sitting in front of me to confirm wire colours, dont shoot the messenger, I'm just the bimbo with some spare time on my hands. If you can shed more light on anything that will benefit members, please send it my way and I'll update the diagrams.

Kitty - DEFINITELY wasn't shooting the messenger - they were general questions and in no way meant to detract from your achievement. Rep on it's way by way of compensation :D

You've done a great job here, and I think we'll all be pretty thankful at some point. I suspect some debate about what of the connectors actually DO will follow ;)

Sorry Steve, didn't take offence, just PMS'ing.

Welcome the debate, if it shed's light...... and help members, same offer goes to everyone, if you have further info happy to add to diagrams.
AT ECU PinOut diagrams are in my sights currently. More to come.

Since we've got so many ecu knowledgeable people in one place, i hope i can get away with a slight hijack? :indian_br

Iv also done similar using Galant Only's advice and research, so its great to have confirmation of all this. Iv also been working through it in respect of the full car wiring diagrams another member has posted.

I am rewiring at the moment to suit a standalone ecu, but i am struggling with what i need to do in respect of the alternator wires to the ecu?
From what i can gather elsewhere G is the power/control feed to the voltage regulator? and RF is the loading on the car, which the ecu uses to tell the alternator how much to charge?

Can anyone help me out with what these pins do? If i just ignore them will the car over or under charge itself?

Other than a couple of small hickups like this, i am hoping to be able to add all the functions of what each pin does to everyones good work above. Then wiring aftermarket ecu's should be a breeze, even for us non auto-electrician types:rolleyes3

Thanks Wodjno, I'll double check ECU pinouts, and create PFL & FL ECU Pinout Diagrams from your contribution.

Steve, I might be able shed a little more light on this question in relation to the dual pressure switch I think.

Currently working on the AT-ECU Pinout Diagrams and this set the little light bulb glowing.

Motor ECU Pin 15 on C-35 ~16pin Connector (Dual pressure switch, A/C and INVECS II) communicates with Pin 10 on 26Pin AT ECU (A/C compressor load signal)

So from this, I'm deducting that the AC compressor signals high and low pressure signals to AT ECU for the ECU(eng) to compensate for under acceleration?????.

I'll be going back thru the Service manual for the ECU(eng) and see how it translates back to english.... so that I might be able to confirm the theory.

That sounds about right there Kitty, that's what I assumed when looking through the ECU pin out diagram I have.

Er....is that the two vacuum hoses coming from the aircon line sensor off to somewhere down near the gearbox?

LOL, I have no idea Steve, I'm just bimbo'ing my way thru the translations, how it works is for you guru's to work out, the light bulb went off so I figured it might answer your question. As I go thru the process of translating the Pinouts and anything like this makes the light glow dimly I'll throw it up for consideration.

Currently working on wiring harness patch to engine ecu, and I have found difference in Kat's (Kitty's VR4) attached pin-out and that done previously by Andy (The Vee). Well in close look seems that is down to Connector 3:
- Kat's pin 8 (W) Ignition failure sensor > is in fact, engine speed sensor (RPM), as in Andy's pinout
- Kat's pin 10 (W-G) engine speed sensor (RPM) > is not connected, as above.
Those was checked out by me connecting my Apexi SAFC.

Also seems that:
- Kat's pin 3 (W) TCL ECU > Andy's pin 9 (W) A/T TCL ECU
- Kat's pin 9 (B) ground TCL ECU > Andy's (B) TCL ECU
so seems those pins are "swapped", but must say didn't check yet with original harness.

There's a difference between A/T and M/T cars...

Yhmm... interesting. Didn't know that due to drivetrain difference pins in ecu are swapped./Hmmm

Yhmm... interesting. Didn't know that due to drivetrain difference pins in ecu are swapped./Hmmm

I can see your point /yes The only difference is that on M/T some pins is missing (lack of A/T ECU and ASC)
But surely, there's no pin swaps there :)

And the white wire is NOT a speed signal (which is either white/green or white/blue)
And black is ALWAYS ground on our cars.../yes

Kat's pin 8 (W) Ignition failure sensor > is in fact, engine speed sensor (RPM), as in Andy's pinout
Those was checked out by me connecting my Apexi SAFC.

I've checked pin 8(white) tonight. It's actually going to the Ignition failure sensor B-91(3), Inspection connector B-09(3) AND as white/green wire to the dashboard "TACHO SI" as RPM signal. So everyone is correct about this pin /yes

Pin 10 is not connected. Pin 3(W) & 9(B) is both going to ASC/TCL ECUs 26-pin connector (C-181) pin 19 and pin 6

which wire do you you cut to disable speed limiter please?

Going by what ive searched for on here its Connector 4 - pin 16.

but....theres also a speed pulse pin in connector 3 !?

Just wondering if anyone can confirm..

thought its ok to have this relevant question in this thread.

Yep Steve Connector 4 - pin 16

so in theory I could cut that wire, extend it both ends and fit a switch.
