I've never noticed logged in as Nick Mann, but logged in under this ID I am not allowed to send a 2nd PM within 60 seconds of the first. This can be very irritating when replying quickly to several messages....

:D

Nick - committee members are not subject to the time limit, AFAIK.

I believe the idea is to stop PM spambots from sending out hundreds/thousands of messages if the get registered. At least this slows them down and hopefully they get banned/deleted pretty quickly!

Yep, think it's called an anti-flood system

Not many spambots as paid members/traders.....

It's set at 60 seconds. Could it be reasonably reduced to 30 seconds?

That would be fine for me.

I don't often read and reply to a PM in less than 30s, whereas I regularly seem to within 60s.

And while PM spambots tend to attack in clumps, we don't seem to get more than a few at a time, so I would have no probs decreasing it to 30 seconds.

So...

I have amended the anti-flood limit down to 30 seconds.

This appears to fairly reflect the interests of the members at this time, although will be reviewed as necessary, and if felt that members are best served by an increased limit (e.g. if the number of PM spambots increases notably), this will be considered at that time. :)

Unfortunately, it is not possible to have different floodcheck times by user group. So, that means the setting has to be the same for everyone.

It has nothing to do with whether you are a committee member or not, Nev. The floodcheck is always bypassed for admins and is also bypassed for moderators of a particular forum.
