Anyone know what the torque converter is good for in terms of power and torque?

Nope!

But pretty sure it is normally stronger than the boxes.

Any idea what the torque is standard?

unless it's the st-r convertor which fails :(

Well if you consider the similar box in the Evo GT-A, they have had, IIRC, around 500bhp through one and I guess quite a bit of decent bhp...no that should read a decent bit of torque

Standard torque is around 270 lbft IIRC. I have got 367 lbft and have destroyed a couple of gearboxes. The first one definitely wasn't the torque convertor, I'm not sure about the second one but I think it was one of the planetarys, as the car wouldn't roll backwards when in neutral.
