DESCRIPTION:

Yep you've guessed it, This is a truly sad day, my car is up for sale.

Its recently MOT'd and taxed for 6months and is sitting at 90,000miles with the belts been done about 3k ago. Its been regularly serviced (far too much infact) with decent oils.

Most of you know the specs, but if you dont the signiture speaks for itself. Although there other bits and bobs, like:
Nylon engine mounts, Poly bushes all round, Tein GT waggon Suspension with EDFC, Carbotec pads and Znelli drilled and groved discs, s/s braided brake lines.

It's currently sitting at about 400bhp @20psi, but i just ran it to scotland and back with the boost turned down and it managed 30mpg!

It's quite tidy, there is a small bit of paint thats has cracked off the front bumper and the rear spoiler is slightly faded.

It comes with the 16" BBS on it now but also with the 17" white evo 6's that are in most of its pics. I'l also throw in 2 resonators to quieten it down!

To be honest i dont want to sell the car, its running as good as it ever has, but as i dont know what im going to be doing in the near future with regards to work, i cant justify keeping such a car that to be honest, i dont really need.

This however does not mean that it will be sold for a song, I'm fully aware how much the car has cost me and how i cant expect to get that back, but i'm also fully aware of the cost involved in getting the car to where it is now.

This is partially why i'm not advertising a price, I'm open to SENSIBLE offers. I'm in no real rush to sell, and if it doesnt so be it, it'l just go back into storage.

So peeps anyone fancy making me an offer?

Really sorry to see this Gareth. It's a cracking spec. Hope it fetches a good price for you.

I will offer you £11 for it....

Good luck with the sale such a shame that you have to sell the SWOC, considering the price of leggies at the moment and what has been done to this car, I wouldnt pay any less than 5.5k, and even at that price it would be a bargain, truly an awesome spec list on the car, and whoever buys it wont be disapointed,

I wouldnt pay any less than 5.5k, ,

i think Gareth would require you be his 'biatch' for 5 years on top of the 5.5k to make this deal worthwhile /STP

Yes, it truly is an excellent car, but look at the current market for VR4s :(

Think one of the mods may be along shortly to encourage you to advertise in the required format...

I think ChrisG is right. I also think it's pointless to sell given the amount of time invested: the financial return will be virtually non-existant as people generally don't buy pre-modified cars. Sorry Gowf: I'm not trying to do you down, and god knows if I had enough cash I'd be ripping your arm of for her!!!!

But realistically, including your time and all the parts we're looking at £10k worth of car. And most people with £10k wouldn't buy a 10yr old VR4.

Best of luck with it, mate....and.......

Have you thought of opening a tuning shop?

Have you thought about selling the ECU, turbos and supporting stuff seperately? You could swap it all with another member and probably get 2000-3000 for that stuff alone.

Indeed.

Gareth - can you please read this thread http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38653 and update this thread accordingly.

Cheers mate

Brad, Yeah i have thought about it, and infact the turbos, manifolds and ecu are kinda earmarked for someone else. BUT.... this is the reason im wanting to sell, as if i do sell said bits, then im only going to put on bigger and incur more and more cost..... it just never ends. In all honesty though the car is so far from standard now that returning it would be an absolute nightmare. I've managed to take 100kg's out of the car, by minimising the crap thats in the engine bay so all brackets and the like are down to a minimum.

Steve, 10k would be nice yes, i could take the 6k deficit on the chin then, but I know what your saying, this is why you can get 1000bhp liners for 25k. Its a shame, because as soon as you get into the competition world things work the opposite way.... try getting a decent competitive mk2 escort for less than 60k!

As for opening my own tuning shop, it nearly did happen. I went to buy out a business up north, but unfortunately there is no way the bank would lend me any money based on his comedy accounting. Other than that, I need capital. That was the eventual plan though to have a rally hire business, but again there are that many estabished ones about, how do you get the custom. So now its a case of try and get a job, which is proving impossible, or get on to this PhD (which ive got an interview for in 2 hours).

Cheers for all the support though

Pictures in the advert may help - prospective owners may be newbies so seeing all the car in the advert would be better...

And 'offers' may be hard to work with new buyers as they will be uncertain about pricing...

Gowf

'Offers' may be hard to work with, but at the end of the day if i put what i want up people usualy run a mile. Like i said, if people offer what they believe it to be worth then we can work from there.

Also, as with anything, it is for sale but only at the correct price. If it doesnt go I'm not really that bothered, just means i'm going to be another 6k down in the very near future.

Pictures in the advert would help offers..

And as for spec - I cannot see a signature/not set up to see a signature so listing spec for newbies could be useful as well...

Signatures are automatically set to be shown, unless you specify otherwise in your User Control Panel, IIRC.

Its merits, the spec may help to sell it but as a possible buyer I would not consider an offer for any car if I could not see pictures in the advert...

Making me work too hard to buy would lead to an end of my interest...

Photos can only help surely...

And I do not remember setting signatures NOT to be shown - I assume that means me seeing other peoples signatures...?

Well since the last time it was advertised it now has a ralliart evo 7 reconditioned RS Plate Diff and a Vipec ECU. Pushing out 414bhp on road fuel and 444bhp on 109, with 480 and 500lbft respectively. So that's another 4k worth of kit on it.

Oh, there are also 3 sets of wheels... White painted evo 7Enkies with 235/45/17 goodyear F1's (only 1800miles old), Evo 6 Enkies with 225/45/17 pirrelli PZero's(tread's not really there on 2) and the stock 16" BBS with about 4mm of tread on the tyres.

The only issue with the car is the power steering keeps throwing a belt, but that will be sorted within the next two weeks, as it is being converted to an electric pump (that will result in a peak gain of 7bhp, not that that matters).

Other than that the car is sorted. Drives really well, and you will get at least 30mpg on motorway driving.

So, any interest? Or am i destined to give this away?

Why dont you just give up and keep it :)

Yep, forgot about that, i knew there was something else that had been done over the past month or so.

Still it would be nice to clear some debts, and not be living out of peoples pockets for a while.

At the end of the day though i do appreciate just how expensive it is, and like ive said before would be amazed if someone actualy wants (by that i mean prepared to put cash on the table) it.

Wouldn't returning the car to standard and selling the fancy parts separately be easier and possibly more profitable though G?

Gowf
10-11-2009, 05:01 PM
The effort required in doing so is huge. Id have to source a load of stock bits. I did also try and sell my turbo set up a while ago, but that has kinda fallen through.

There has been no modification that cannot be undone i suppose, but itd take me months. Then its an even bigger kick in the balls, because although you can never ever expect to recouple labour on these things, you dont want to have to do it twice for nothing.

Its not like i really want rid, I just cant see me surviving if i keep this car. Should have stuck with the little Pugs!

Well giving it away may have to happen.

There seems to be so many up for sale at the moment, I take it everyone is in the same financial boat.

Hence why im think im going to have to do this.

So is no one even going to make me even a remotely decent offer? You would be surprised by what id take for it.

Would be happier if it went to someone here, before it goes on piston heads or autotrader. Although happy is an odd term.
