I have had this problem with the traction light coming on and the engine light coming on. I know that the problem is on the vaccum valve plugs. I check them (these are situated on the firewall, there are two of them) and push back into place but the problem didnt solve. The trouble code i get is No 71 Traction control (TC) vacuum valve solenoid fault.

As mentioned on other threads, The TCL off light goes on as a safety measure when the Engine warning light comes on.

You need to get a MUT-II on it to diagnose. (usually only available from Mitsubishi dealers)

I had a faulty Fuel solenoid. When mine did it.
