Hello and welcome. Don't worry about the tapping - it is a characteristic of Mitsubishis and it's not serious either :)

Not sure how many kms your car has done but any fully synthetic oil (very important that it is fully synthetic) between 0W30 and 10W30 should be okay.

Not sure on the miles/km thing - I'm in New Zealand so cannot advise on that aspect but I'd assume that if the speedo reads in miles it would make no sense to have the odo reading in kilometres.

What VTEC do you have - H22A?

Your profile suggests "vtec" as your car.

I think Ryan means the 'vtec' in your profile!

VR-4s definitely have no variable valve-timing malarkey - which would be fairly pointless on these!

If the car has just been converted, then the mileage reading is likely to be correct (i.e. virtually all in KMs).

If it was converted a while ago, then the mileage up to the conversion will be in KMs, whereas anything since then will have been in miles.

now than put a bottle of wynns lash adjusters noise reduction in it see if that helps the noise if it does run it for a couple of weeks then change the oil i put magnatec in it, it seemed to have stopped the noise for how long god knows. any tips, just keep an eye on the rust, it eats these cars quick. and regular changes of all oils and lubricants.

Welcome to the club.

If you want to know more about the ticking, do a search for lash adjusters

:):):)

Oww don't say that the Amsoil bashers will be along now and say were scaring the newbie!!!!!

Hello and welcome Nasvr4, the tapping canbe cured with the uprated lash ajusters, the have a wider oil hole in them, and putting in a good quality oil and filter, Amsoil is one option, but I'm sure someone will be anong to tell you other option :)

Check your battery voltage when the car is and isn't running. Often a ton of lights come up on the dash when you have a battery or alternator problem
