I'm thinking I'll put a bid in for this.. unless someone else on the club is interested. If I do end up getting it, would anyone be able to pick it up for me ? It could be parted out as I only want the cam covers.

I can pick it up and store it at my place. Assuming that happens I'd be keen on keeping the sump, I can't think of anything else that will be worthwhile.

I guess we could just scrap whatever's left over?

I'll give it a couple of hours for anyone else to lay claim to having bid already.

The coil packs and leads might be useful too.

I think those run a distie, you can see all of the leads coming from the left side of the engine

It's the same as a 6g72 from a gto, a row of 3 individual coil packs.

The last picture in this post gives a better idea: http://ozvr4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6656

I've towed a 6A13TT, manual box, and rear diff on a trailer behind a toyota corolla station wagon before.. so its doable.

Are you Planning on using those cam covers on a VR4 engine?

If so it don't think the covers on the 6A12 in the galants like that one fits as it is the wrong way around, didn't look it would work last time I looked into it. The Belt and pullys are all on the opposite side of the engine.

You need the cover from the FTO 6A12 as it sits the same way around as the 6A13

I think these pics of Carsten's engine show what I mean if you compare it to the trade me image.http://ozvr4.com/forums/showpost.php?p=53191&postcount=69

It looks like the bolt holes will all line up if you flip them around. I.e. use the front cover on the back head etc.

It all depends on price.. I'm not going to bid very high.

Brad, if the timing is right, I may be available to help with the transport (or at least lifting this side of the bridge)

if you flip the cover round from that 6a12
the PCV and front-rear bank pipe will be on the front

NO GOOD!

you need the the FTO 6a12 non mivec cam covers for it to be right

Keith - you don't need a trailer! Just throw it straight in! I've carted the entire rear subframe, diff, and rear suspension in the back of the corolla before :)

Kenneth - thanks! Might need a help to lift it in. I'll be able to get it out with the engine crane so that won't be a problem.

I was thinking of getting dash fittings alloy welded in the right place, and the original holes welded over or plugged.

which would defeat the cheapness off them,
also risk warping them with the heat needed to weld it,
its only cast aluminium and its a bitch to weld

i only paid a few $$ for the FTO ones

also the cam covers have baffles/plates attached to the under side
which may noy be placed correctly on the 6a12 ones to work with what you want to do.

I'm also interested in the mivec heads to be honest.

Pity it looks like it has been sitting around for so long, I'd love to make a 2.5 n/a mivec :)

That's what I had in mind actually. The NA engines are fun to drive, but lack the grunt in the top end.
