What a cracking weekend !!! apart from the weather ! :sad3: rain this afternoon put paid the the jet car running again. That is one mean machine !! 6 secs dead @ 235 mph ! WTF !!
And once again, our Galants/Legnums prove their stealth, & dumbfounded even the comentators !
Congratulations to Dave for recording the best time of the day, a fantastic 13.54 secs @ 100.2 mph ! err.................. with a little help from a bottle !
I ran a 13.88 @ 97 mph, which I'm well chuffed with .
more comments from other attendees when they arrive home later ! :-b :-b

Yep I ran some numbers!!!!!

;)

Best was

60ft 1.985
330ft 5.636
1/8 ET 8.663
1/8 mph 81.53
1000ft 11.229
1/4 ET 13.543
1/4 mph 100.2

I am well chuffed, that was with a 44BHP squirt of nitrous but considering my engine problems recently that is fab! I want 12s though!

I did 3 other runs all within a gnats gonad of this and the finale to try and eek some finer figures was for Derek (some 60kgs lighter than me) to have a go with my purple throbbing monster. Rain didn't help track conditions and creeping on the line didn't help Dereks launch, he ran a 13.565 @98.64.

Cracking weekend indeed!:)

18.12 seconds @ 75mph!!! COME ON!!!!:devil5:

Regarding the comentators.... I hope it comes out on dave's video, but the statment was thus....

'Now I'm slightly confused. There's an estate car in one of the lanes called a... Mitsubishi... LEG--NUMB".... I've never seen one of those before...' (cue Dave setting off) 'But, MY WORD he's hoofing up the track!!' :D:D

A totally :-b weekend.

And may I say a very big THANKYOU to Derek and Simon for allowing me to take their respective VR-4s up the strip. That was really generous of you and I'm touched that you trusted me with what must be your favourite toys!!! :) And bloody hell, I can see why you love 'em so much! Jaysus!!!

Cracking times set by Dave and Derek, well done guys - shows what the effort and £ notes can achieve. That "little" (see pics later) NOS bottle was a godsend Dave - top banana. Shame we did not have a few more runners from the Club - but there's always October people ;)

Personally I only got two runs in due to today's weather - ran a 14.3 (beat a new Scooby WRX on the line) and a 14.4 - was 0.8s off my previous best so have to be pleased - but sure I can squeeze some more out of her if I can sort a couple small issues out. Car back home in one piece and no speeding tickets - so added bonuses :-D

shows what the effort and £ notes can achieve.

The amount of £ spent is minimal to achieve this time for me. Far greater is the technical input and effort from myself. There are only a few items that helped drag my time down.

Boost controller ~£200 installed and set up by myself
Nitrous Oxide ~£250 designed, installed and set up by myself

This in the grand scheme of things is not a lot of cash to drag my 1/4 mile time down from 15.4 when I bought it to 13.5 at the weekend.

Now you could argue that the exhaust system that I bought also helped, but this was also designed manufactured and installed by my good self, not in the interests of power though, I just wanted 2 pipes!

I will not argue that I have spent a fair amount of cash on the car, but only a small proportion of this has been directed at increasing the acceleration.

Put your wallets away guys, get well read up on the site and do things your way, on a budget!

Anyone posting more pics/video footage?

I have some superb footage of me racing the mighty GLS!

Helen was stood at the 1/8 mile marker with the video camera and I had helmet cam installed............I gave Kieran 4 seconds at the start and we crossed the line together (me slightly in front) I will try and get it loaded later today.
