Ooh, good spot Brad!

We were looking at the HIDs!

Does that mean the HIDs are not aftermarket ones, and instead are the ultra-rare Mitsi ones?

Nope

Tools involved were:

Oven
screwdrivers
Hid Kit
Spray Can - Silver

Looking cool!

I looked at the super lights but still didnt like the orange indicator cover.

So decided to do it myself.

I was thinking of getting HIDs for the main beam but will probably just get some osram nightbreakers or similar

You can take the orange indicator cover out when you seperate the headlights

Quite liking the silver, but hating the HIDs :(

You can see from the 2nd picture, when you're above the lights, that there's just so much glare!

I'm going to be ripping the HIDs out of my VR4 as soon as I get a chance - I've had enough of them now!

The title of the thread is a bit misleading as you expect to see a before and after shots. with that kind of statement.

i suppose i never pay any attention to the headlight inners as i have a black car and they are black normaly. no need to do anything with them.

However they do look good on your car. lets hope the headlight heat doesn't start to peel the paint.

Thats exactly what I did with those, just replaced the indicator bulbs with ones that look chrome but shine orange.

Im loving the HID's, but they are angled down a bit so that I dont't blind people.

I think the paint should be ok, ive sprayed the headlight surrounds on a number of the cars I had previously and its never been an issue.

Apparently you can get H3 HID's to that will fit the foglights.

Think I might start a thread in the projects section for all the bits im doing.

i am going to get a set HID for the headlights only.

no real point for me to get main beams as i live in town, the main beam only ever gets used for flashing people and it takes a few seconds for them to get up to full temp/brightness so that would make them pretty crap for flashing.

what heat colour did you go for i believe they are available in 4.3K, 6K, 8K, 10K.
the web site i looked at said the lower the number the brighter they are so the 4.3K are more like day light than the bluer ones you see on the road.
But that does not make any sense to me as you would think the bigger the number the brighter/witer the light.

can anyone confrim that the lower the number (heat colour) the whiter the light.

The higher the number the bluer they get, you won't want anymore than 6k on the road or they'll look REALLY blue.. 4.3k or 6k are best..

I used 8k, anymore than that and your going to get attention from the police etc.

personally i prefer the white lights. i get fed up with buying new bulbs and having them look great and having a good bright white just to find in a month or so they have gone yellow and dull.

i think it will have to be the 4.3K ones for me then. and for £60 it is about twice the price of some decent standard bulbs

H3s work brilliantly in the fogs....I have them :)

Used 3800k in the fogs as it cuts through better.
6000k in the headlights.
Would probably go for 4300k or 6000k again for main beam, but am put off by warmup time. Headlights could really do with some projectors.

I did the same thing on my car tonight, minus the HID lights.

Split the lights using a hairdryer, de-tango the indicator, spray the black panel silver and re-fit. Also fit some clear side repeaters so the car looks much nicer now :D

Will the VR4's reflectors take 100W bulbs ok or go on meltdown ?

I tried these bulbs in a Vectra without any joy, but were fine in a Mondeo [both had plastic reflectors, b.t.w.]
