Hi Chris

Firstly welcome to Club VR4.

Just looking at your information and see you have your car listed as a Skyline GTR. So is the Legnum in addition to this or instead of this out of curiosity ?

Which Liner do you have (R34 I hope) ? Can you post some pics, and is it for sale ?

Cheers

Pete

Or are you one of the skylines that lost to an estate car at the weekend?!

(Only joking - see the Jap Show threads!)

Welcome. Let us know what you get.

LMAO!

Every car I raced at the weekend lost! The Legnum is a good choice! :D

Hi Guys

Thanks for the warm welcome...

Unfortunately, my car isn't an R34... its an R33 GTR V-Spec. Currently stage one. It hit 437BHP on the roller...

The VR4 is actually for my brother... He needs something which will accommodate the three kids, but will still keep up with me

Its either a Legnum or a quad turbo nitrous powered space wagon :D

If you want some photos of the Skyline let me know.. Actually, it may be for sale in a few weeks... depends on the house purchase..

Chris

Is that a vr4?? out of interest, which is faster? your Skyline or Mits?

I'm afraid the Legnum is a humble 1.8GDI. I must admit I have wished it was a VR4 on several occassions, but I just got the insurance renewal and its £800 for the liner and £340 for the Legnum so perhaps I should be happy :)

These VR4s seem serious hardcore nuts! I reckon a standard VR4 (manual or tiptronic) would beat a standard GTT Skyline with tiptronic (like mine).

The gearchange on our legnum tiptronic is instantaneous, whereas the skyline slurs the changes the more you are pressing on. Maybe thats the 300 bhp over the 130 on the legnum though :D

Have you ever thought about swapping the R34 GTT for a R33 GTR? The price is about the same.. the performance is not... :D

To be honest, the GTT was a bit of a stretch, I was going to get a r33 GTS-T with a budget of about £6K, but this GTT came up was supposed to be only coupla grand more.

BUT it worked out to be about £11500 after we finally paid off the Yen, shipping, duty, SVA and alarm etc. :( Having said that I am well happy, its a superb car. Of course you can't import one for that now, prices have gone up you would be lucky to land one for under £13500.

I reckon R33 GTRs are still £16K minimum, so I would never have convinced the missus!

Besides (you're not going to like this) I prefer an automatic because I live in gridlocked Essex and drive to work every day in traffic. I have the sequential change if I want to avva good go ! :$

Hmmm....

Anyway... back to the origional point... Nice cars.. You have taste sir!

Do you know anybody from the GTR register?

Do you know Garry Passingam? He is the genius who got 437BHP out of my car with standard turbos...

GTRs only come with manual, but GTS's have always been offered with Autos. Since the r34 these come with sequential shift, both on the gear selector and on the steering wheel.

I have met a couple of people on the GTR forum, mostly at the meets in St Neots and Southend. I haven't been to G-Force, the car has been at Abbey and at Rising Sun Performance.

437 bhp - very impressive! You verses BDA's VR4 (what an amazing car especially when you consider he's done it all for £37.50). That would be a race worth seeing!

richibass is right - what a hijack - why are we hear again! :lipsrseal

You dont need water with nitrous..........the nitrous cools far more efficiently :p

I think Derek is the one to watch :lipsrseal

I thought when using alot of nitrous, despite its good cooling properties, it increased the combustion pressure and reduced the effective fuel/oxygen mixture(due to the release of oygen from N2o) meaning very often you got detonation?

Ah, Im probably wrong. :boing4: ... it would'nt be the 1st time......

but hey..... :-D ......... I have some footy to watch........

Grinder

I understand its best to retard the timing 1 or 2 degrees to reduce possibility of detonation.
