The misses saw a white Challenger on the way to perth last week.

She thinks she might want one as a replacement for the V6 when the time comes.

There isnt a very good selection in the UK.

What were they called in Japan? Gonna try trawling the auctions.

Cheers

Don

p.s. Honk Kong order update coming later today :)

When they were first released over here, they were called the Challenger.

Within a couple of years (if that) they became the "Shogun Sport".

I too like the look of them - we've actually been mentioning them as a potential Galant replacement in a few years once it's had it's time! ;)

They became the shogun sport, as Garry said, so there's a big selection of them.

They're pretty poor vehicles though. The cabin space is limited, and the underpinnings are L200 rather than Shogun, meaning leaf springs. Great for towing.

But Don only has one Legnum the other is a V6 Galant estate.

As for Shogun sports, dreadfull, interior is horrible, drives like an L200 which is pretty poor, I wouldnt consider it a replacement for anything to be honest

I had one as a company car a few years back, quite liked it to be honest , they aren't as bad as what some people are trying to make out. fuel consumption was harsh though...

They certainly look good, and I'd imagine they'd be pretty safe in an accident. Wouldn't they have been called a Pajero Sport in Japan?

Ive done some research and they were challenger's in Japan for all their life.

Can pick up a low mileage '98 in Jap auction for just over 4k landed so that may well be an option.

the misses only wants an all black one and she also wants a petrol.

3.5 V6 6g74 here we come :P

That's fine - just don't go in it or you will be feeling let down.

My boss has got the latest one and had the previous shape - didn't like either.

All the 'pick-up' jobbies don't drive well compared to a normal car - they are getting better, but still have a long way to go IMHO.

I unfortunately have to regularly drive Ford Rangers (new and old shape) on a regular basis and generally hate every minute driving them !

If you must - the latest Freelander is much better.

Or, in fact, the Outlander.

I'm guessing neither the Freelander or Outlander is £4000 though.

I've heard the old RWD L200 was alot of fun if it was empty.

Before you go getting committed to the Challenger....have a go in a Forrester turbo first! Then imagine it with 300bhp, and see if you're SURE you want the Challenger. :D
