Bolts another way round... But the bolt in the shaft is the easiest way... Just use a BIG hammer to get it out /yes

I had the pleasure of removing the transfer case and then the trannie from under my brother's VR4 in 30deg c heat.....dumb I know.....even dumber it was only on jack stands. I am a big guy and so there was not much room under there. A slide hammer is the best way and the left shaft should be out to get clearance to avoid damaging the seals. I really did not realise the trannie was so heavy.
