Just out of curiosity, where did you get the whole shaft from and how much was it? Does it include the inner cv?

Mike hasn't done cv joint before. I could do it but prefer some1 that knows what there doing.
Gly, waiting is fine. Cv only clicks at full lock at the moment. As long as we do the work on a sunday as I work Saturdays.

Was thinking replace whole shaft if that's easyier. Super cheap sell cv joint greese if needed. And mitsubishi are rip for new parts. They wanted over $500 for new cv. If you keen to help that would be awesome

if you had gone to somewhere like ADL or partmaster you could have got a new joint for about what you got the driveshaft for. It is probably best to do the whole shaft - might damage the new joint trying to smack it off the axle

Has anyone ever bought a full new shaft from mitsy? As far as I've found you can only get the outer CV from third parties.

you obviously have never had to remove a bastard one ie. having to use a gas axe to cut it off. old mazdas are bad for that

been a mechanic for 16 years, ive removed many stubborn ones, if they are particularly difficult to get off there is a reason behind it. What i usually do then is get the shaft out and in a vice, and get jiggy with da ammer!!! But never had to resort to cutting one off or using metal hammer. Patience and persistance prevail.

Yea I should of asked around third party stores for new joint but at the time I couldn't be bothered.
Subaru eta would you be going to glys workshop day?

i always use a copper hammer when i do them, unless its being a bastard then i turn to the big boys :p when you work at a dealership where the service manager only cares about figures and if you take 1minute too long to do something you get grilled, patirnce and persistance are not really options!

and yeah i probably will munta
