This event is £10 per adult in advance, or £19 on the gate for club members. Club stands are available at no extra cost. 15 mins on the GP circuit is £25 or a club session can be booked (up to 50 cars) for £800! Imagine silverstone GP circuit with ONLY VR4's on track!! Flippin' 'eck!!

what about 49 vr4's and a v6 24 :-D
i'd be up for this one and would have a couple of rounds (if that is possible) or as you say if enough people go for it then a club session would be good.
oh and one 14 year old (and me)
Do we need helmets for this one?

Nick Mann

Okay, peeps! The funds need to be with the organisers by 23rd July. This means you need to send me or the club your money before that.

Please can all attendees send me £10 per person (adult) for the entrance ticket? It is £19 on the day, but you will not get a car pass for the stand unless paying in advance. I think we will be in the 'VR-pug', so you'll have to put up with a non-mitsy parked at the end again, I'm afraid!

Do the people on the track want to hire a club session? I'm guessing no, as £800 between 6 of you looks a bit pricey! If not, do you want a track session with the muppets? If so please send £25 for the track session as well.

Let me know how you want to pay. As long as I can send the cheque off on monday 19th, we should be okay.

Cheers boys and girls!

Nick.

I suppose it would be rude not to!!!

Book Helen and I for the stand and I will have 1 track session............if I ever get round to fixing my brakes!

Just a word of warning

EVERYONE THAT ATTENDS SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT THEY HAVE PLENTY OF PAD LEFT OR THAT THEY SWITCH TO RACING PADS FOR THE DAY. ALSO IT IS WORTH CHANGING YOUR BRAKE FLUID FOR DOT 5.1 BEFORE RUNNING. TRACK DRIVING IS SERIOUS FUN, BUT WILL SERIOUSLY REDUCE THE LIFE OF YOUR BRAKES!

thank you :D

You have PM regarding payment.

The stand will be reached by a special parking pass of some kind. If you aren't able to arrive with anyone, I will post the pass to you. I'll organise all that after I've booked it! Often we try to convoy the last few miles.

7000rpm red line x 75% = 5250rpm and Combe was 4000rpm if I recall - sh1t that sounds like it could mean problems for some :(

Nick Mann
05-08-2004, 07:18 PM
Wellingborough adds 20 miles (10 each way) to most peoples journey over Northampton. I suggest the Northampton hotel.

/EDIT

Scrub that, its £2 more per room and more awkward to get to. Wellingborough could be better!

Nick Mann
05-08-2004, 08:01 PM
I'm going with Wellingborough.

Ibis don't do group discounts. You can get a 10% discount with an Ibis card, but this costs £80 and only lasts one year.

Phone the Ibis Wellingborough on 01933 228333. Rooms from £36.95 are still available at the moment.

This is not the best news, guys!

You can't choose which session on the track you get, you just get given it.

We have been given 8:00am briefing, 9:00am track. I suggest that means we need to be at the gates for when they open at 7:00.

Right.

I have 3 stand passes up for grabs. As far as I remember, pezza and Brind have both expressed an interest.

CVR4 members will have first priority, then anyone who wants to attend.

Also, Reds tickets are available, two adult entry tickets @ £10 each.

Rules for Track attendees:

1. Get up flippin' early!
2. No passengers.
3. Ensure you have Helmet and License.
4. Car must be road legal.
5. No cameras, however fixed or held.
6. The briefing session must be attended.
7. Arms and legs must be covered.
8. Headlights must be covered with tape.
9. Noise limit - as discussed previously.

Let me know where you want your entry tickets to go, if you will not be at the Ibis on sunday morning at 6:00am!

Does anyone know of any special requirement on the helmet? My biker colleagues seem to think that the helmet needs to be of a racing grade (whatever that means!?!), but I didn't think it would be this strict.

Anybody got any ideas? What sort of helmets have you guys got? Do they need to be full face, etc? Blimey, too many questions :)

Good news and bad news.

TRAX can not change the track times. We will have to endeavor to get there early!

However, they do have a few slots still available later in the day, so if anyone has a legitimate reason why they don't make the track, then they will do what they can to get them out later.

Does the fact that I am a danger to humankind at 8am on a Sunday morning count as a valid reason? :$ :beerclash

Thanks for trying though, Nick - much appreciated.

For those of you travelling from Wellingborough to Silverstone early morning - am I correct that you will drive over the M1 at Junction 15A en route (or will you go via Junction 15) ?

If so, I will drive down from Leicester and wait to convoy with you from Junction 15A (or 15) onwards to Silverstone. I'll wait at the first available lay-by (or safe parking) AFTER Junction 15A roundabout on the A43.

I'm guessing you will be there around 06.45 if you are trying to get to the gates at 07.00 ........ can someone please confirm your rough time and route. I'll subsequently post my mobile number so that someone can call me if there are any hiccoughs ...... like all still totally pissed after getting to bed at 05.00 am :sad3:

I'm pretty sure there are services at J15a. Lets meet there. It's easier than trying to get a shed load of galants in a lay-by!

Shall we say 6:45 depart from the services?

Don't think that will work Nick ....... all the cars from Wellingborough would need to get onto the Motorway to get to services etc. (Unless they know the back door route but it's awkward and officially not allowed. :sad3:

I was thinking that I would be the only one waiting and as you all pass I would just come out and tag onto the back of the convoy..........

My plans have changed somewhat. Mrs Jimbo was never likely to be coming it seems, but my best mate has shown a big interest, so I've given him my spare ticket (not literally.....cos Nick's got it, but you know what I mean!).

So I'm going to cruise down to his on Saturday and get some beers in then we'll be setting off from North Leicester early Sunday morning.

Richard, do you fancy a 6 junction mini-convoy till we meet the rest of the rabble? I expect we'll come down the A46 and join the M1 at J21A at about 6:00-6:15ish. Are you joining at Fosse Park?

I was under the impression that these services were accesible from the A43. Am I wrong?

Yep, that sounds good.

As I live close to Leicester Forest East services and know the 'back door' we could meet there (just after you join motorway). I'll wait close to the exit back ON to the motorway ...... just follow signs as if you were going to get fuel and you will see me parked just past filling pumps. About 6.00 to 6.15 ?

No problem, I'll be in the loud, white X-reg! I'll aim to be there for just gone six.

Looking forward to it now. I have 4 new tyres ready to go on AFTER and Darren at Graham Goode's has done a fantastic job doing what no one else could - he found me a set of my break discs. Getting them fitted on Wednesday which doesn't leave me long to bed them in......looks like I'm taking the long scenic way to and from work this week!!!

Still need a crash helmet though :rolleyes5

I have 2 people whose tickets I don't know what to do with. Come forwards please, Wodjno and Quadal! I will try to get you both by e-mail.

In the meantime does anybody want to step forwards and claim some tickets? We only have a few days to go now, so SHOUT NOW!!

I am thoroughly looking forward to a bit of hot club action now! :$

From the IBIS to silverstone should take about 40 mins according to autoroute. I know from experience that there are always massive queues to get it. There will be thousands of cars trying to get in. I think last year was 2500 and this year is expected to be more. What time were people planning on leaving the IBIS?

I said 6:30 leave from the Ibis. But now you are worrying me! I know a back route around silverstone village that often misses much of the queueing, but the lanes you drive are fun too!

Does this mean people want to leave earlier?

The briefing session is 8:00.

I would like to set off at 6 if no one has any objection. I tried to get in for a 9 briefing a couple of years ago, left leeds at 6 and had to ram my way in to a 5 mile queue as no one would let me in. Only just made the briefing and track.

Nick,

In case anyone gets detatched from the convoy or turns up late etc .......... which Gate are we to head for at Silverstone and do we have a location of our stand area. I take it we will be 'infield' somewhere?

Thanks

Go to the main entrance (follow everyone else!). With your car pass in your windscreen, marshalls should point you in the right direction. I have no idea where we will be - I am assuming that the marshalls can point us in the right direction based on the stand car pass and the words 'Club VR4'!

Can I confirm that there is stand space, an entrance ticket and a track slot available (if I read the above correctly). Just seen Derek's post about 1/2 a room free and may be tempted at the last minute - will have to jiggle things around my end though.

Just spoke to Derek and have agreed terms....so to speak

So I will be there - sorry it's last minute but was not intending on going to this one as I am skint but lure of stand space, spare tickets and spare track time was too much :-b

Luckily I have done the urgent things on my car in the last two weeks:

4 x new Eagle F1s
New front discs/pads
Engine oil
G/box oil
AYC change
Transfer box
Rear diff

So she is ready to rumble down Hanger straight !

Nick, can you hold onto a stand pass, entrance ticket and track ticket for me and I will pay you tomorrow night if thats ok ?

Thanks

Yeah thanks mate, just what Shaz said - managed to blag my way around it along the lines of "Silverstone is easier on the tyres" and "I won't rag it too much" .......

But to help, I have the start of a deal with AP to do some on-car advertising for them in exchange for free/discounted servicing so will ease things a little ongoing if the deal comes off !

I think there will be an entrance ticket left as well, but I am waiting for confirmation.
