to quote the immortal word from Twin Town, "Ones got a boot, one havent!!"

galants are usually saloons mate, dont think they did galant estate vr4s

Unfortunately, yes they did!

Japanese 'grey' import: Saloon = Galant, Estate = Legnum
Ralliart official import: Saloon = Galant, Estate = Galant Estate.

That goes for all models, I believe.

Is there much difference in pace between the sedan and wagon?

Not really much difference. Some say that the handling is firmer in the saloon due to a more rigid and lighter back end. Fit a rear strut brace in the Legnum and that will even out any difference there. Otherwise there is no difference really.

The differences that matter are: the PFL and FL bodyshape. he PFL and FL output in power (in auto), the AYC not available in the Type V, the TCL removed from the FL auto (extremely rare option though), and of course the manual vs auto.

And for a detailed explanation of the original question's answer:
The JDM market cars are badged as Galant for saloon and Legnum for estate, regardless of the trim/spec etc.
The UK market cars are ALL called Galant regardless of bodyshape. Therefore the 'official' Ralliart imports were ALL rebadged as Galant for the UK market.
The 'grey' imports that were not official from Ralliart still retain the JDM spec titles, so any grey import saloon is a Galant and any grey import estate is a Legnum in whichever spec they may be (Viento, STR, VR4 etc).

Hope that clears that up.

I think some of the official estates retained the Legnum badging. Possibly due to lazy Mitsi importers, or shortage of facelift tailgate garnishes bearing the word Galant! Which makes sense given that the official UK import was the only application for a facelift tailgate garnish saying Galant!

haha, some good replys guys. iv got a 02 galant v6 estate. They are handy for sleeping in as spirit said. Fold the back seats down throw done some duvets and you have got quite a comfy bed. and the tints add some privacy.
