Car: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Film: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Why: Loved the car and film as a kid, now my kids love the car and the film. Also, it's a car, a plane and a hovercraft all in one, how they managed to create such an amazing machine all those years ago is a remarkable feat that none of the current manufacturers seem to be able to recreate, perhaps that's why the motor industry is going down the pan!

Car: Lotus Esprit

Film: The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) Lotus Esprit Series 1
Why: Do you really need to ask?? :smitten:

I saw this film as a kid and fell in love with the great British Supercar. Colin Chapman's creation with Guigiaro's design created a legend which was very futuristic for its time.
A White Lotus crashing into the water and so gracefully transforming into a submarime, only to emerge again on the beach as a car - truley amazing.

Following this the film For Your Eyes Only (1981) introduced the Lotus Turbo Esprit. A car I truely love and own.

No, I never had a remote controlled KITT :(
But, I did have a set with a push along KITT that you could sort of rev up and let go into a shed and it would come out the otherside doing a wheelie ... :D

Car: Lotus 7

Film etc: The Prisoner (not old enough to remember watching it, but am aware of it)

Why: It's British!!!! It was designed by the late genius that is Colin Chapman!!!! It was so far ahead of it's time. The latest and ultimate incarnation of it 'The Caterham Levante' is the only road legal car that can stick with the awesome (if somewhat unreliable) Caparo F1. Oh and it is the most like my MNR, which makes my VR-4 look rather slow and fat.

p.s. I wanted to say: The Mystery Machine, every car out of the wacky races, the 'colour changing' Lambo out of Canonball Run (or Gumball, can't remember which), the Challenger out of Vanishing Point, the Mini's out of the Italian Job (the proper one, not the ****ty American remake, which was set in LA!?!?!), the Chevy out of Two Lanes Blacktop, the Ford Coupe out of American Grafetti.............................

In the new year we need to start a thread 'Top 10 Car Garage'; that'll get our grey matter working!!

OK can I change mine now? I didn't know the Lotus 7 was in a program or film as iconic as the prisoner (never seen it). Owning a Westfield then yes the Lotus 7 is a very iconic car with a large fan base and many copies e.g. Westfield, Robin Hood, Caterham etc...

Car: AMC - Hornet Coupe

Film: James Bond - Man with the Golden Gun

Good choice sir /yes

Although, it is Countach ... had posters of these all over my bedroom walls when I was a kid and still want one today! I have since found out that I am too tall to fit in one though :(

Guess I will have to just resort to a modern Lambo like a Gallardo or Murcielago one day instead

The problem with the new series - (how far through them are we in the UK now? As I watched them when there came out in the USA) is the way the car changes into other cars... I know the origional Knight Rider had it's moments where you thought no way can a car do that. But the new series takes that removal from reality just that one step further.

Fortunately though the new series was changed half way through as the producers listened to the viewers. The viewers were complaining about the amount of romance going on. Therefore the show was holted half way through whilst they made changes and then showed the rest of the series. It's good that the voice of the consumer is listened to once in a while. Hopefully the budget is there for series 2 though at some point as currently NBC are saying it's not going to happen

Car: Aston Martin db-5

Film(s): Goldfinger, Thunderball, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies & Casino Royale

Reason: revolving license plates numbers, bulletproof front-and-rear wind screen, dashboard equipped with a radarscope, homing devices (magnetically attached), armrest with left and right front-wing machine guns, smoke screen, oil slick, electronic tire shredders and a passenger ejection seat activated by a red button hidden atop the gear shift ... need I say Moore (well it was Connery actually!!)

Car: - DeLoreon DC-12

Film Etc :- Back To The Future Trilogy

Reason why :- My favourite films. Ever. Watched them countless times, and even now the car "looks" futuristic. Prefer it in Part I guise (ie almost standard), but it does look quite funky even in Part II guise (as most people remember it, with the Mr Fusion), and it's somewhat cool even in Part III guise, with the massive 50's technology circuit board strapped to the bonnet and the white-wall tyres!

I've got a 1:18th scale model which is the early Part II car - I'd like to get a Part III car, plus a PROPER Part I car (without the Mr Fusion) but I've yet to see one so far :(

see a man of taste, I want one with all the options that one has, things like the front spoiler and the 2 fit bits in overly tight jumpsuits :o /JawDroppi :rolleyes4 :uhoh:

have you ever been in one? i went in a white 5000sQv, you think your old clutch was heavy? it's not even in the running, it was like pushing a railway sleeper through a brick wall.

Still cool though :beatnik2:
