Hi all just a quick one,- first of all my srs light came on and has been on pretty much permanently since, then about a week ago my handbrake warning light started coming on when pulling away from traffic lights - and no the handbrake isnt on!!!!. Really dont know what to make of it any ideas?

Handbrake light discussed very recently! http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43291&highlight=brake+fluid

SRS light is a dealer-only looksee. Unless someone near you has a MUT-II computer. Only one of these can reset the light and read the SRS fault codes.

Possibly one of the airbag connections though.

Sounds odd that both have started playing up at the same time, for the handbrake light check your brake fluid, ad this will indicate a low level, (mostly noticed when accelerating). Could be a loose conector on the back of the dash if they started doing this at the same time?

Ahhh righto! im guessing the brake fluid needs doing then? Not the most mechanically minded of people!

Possibly just topping up. Which may be an indication of low pads, or a leak somewhere. But probably low pads!

Brake fluid level being low will most likely be an indication that you brake pads are worn and need replacing. Or (worst case scenario) you could have a brake fluid leak. What I am trying to get at, don't just top up the fluid without getting the brakes checked first.

Ok I shall get it all checked - therein lies the next problem,- need an oil change, atf replaced and possibly front brakes anc can only really afford to get one of the 3 done this month - which one first!

Well, the oil failing may lead to a sudden engine failure, the gearbox will (usually) start to misbehave before the oil allows damage to occur, and it sounds like the brakes are maybe okay.

Check both dipsticks: unless the gearbox fluid is brown (it should be a healthy pinky colour) then I'd say the engine oil is probably the priority.

Change the oil, drive it gently.

How many miles since your last engine oil change? How many miles do you do in a month? And what engine oil is in there?

Last oil change was about a 10 months ago, I do about 6000 miles a year as a rough estimate - only work about 2 miles away! I think at the moment its running on Millers 0w-30 that was put in by an evo specialist i had the last service done by.

So, you've done about 5,000 miles since the last oil change. And will do about another 500 in the next month.

I would say, get the brakes sorted this month, as it's a safety issue and then make sure you get the engine oil changed the following month /yes

Ok I shall get the brakes done - best place to get them and best ones to get?

Depends on what you want and whether you want to fit yourself?

Camskill do cheap standard stuff. However if you Want more then there's lots of choice including ebc, carbotec, ferodo etc. And for disks f
you can get groves or not etc
