Just a throw out to see if anyone has a cheap bike they want to get rid of. I am tired of waiting for the bus and having to deal with stinky people on a sweaty smelly bus! And the parking costs in the centre are ridiculous.

So I need a basic bike to just get me to and from work which is a 10 minute bike ride away. Suspension, disc brakes etc are not required.

Let me know if you have anything. Otherwise I'll just pick up something cheap from eBay or something.

If you're using it daily - spend a few quid extra and get something that's lightweight. A heavy bike will only put you off, whereas a lighter one will not! ;)

Plus - you're only a skinny fella anyway, and extra weight on the bike will really be noticed! ;)

Also if you need to carry it anywhere (into the house, into work etc) you'll appreciate the lighter bike even more!

Have a look on Cycle Chat (http://www.cyclechat.co.uk), lots of people on there, plenty of bikes for sale as well.

I used to have a full steel framed bike which I used a few years ago for the same commute and it was fine. I need to carry it up one flight of stairs when going under the subway but I dont wanna buy anything special. Just an old £20-30 think that I can just get to and from work on.

Thanks for the link Gareth. I'll keep my eye out on there.

Might be worth looking into the cycle to work scheme Atik, it runs in Birmingham, http://www.cyclescheme.co.uk/
