[VR4AWD]

This is our project page for our own Mitsubishi colt C5 GTI project car

The plans are to convert it from a 1.8 GTI into a

C5 VR-4 4G63T AWD

here is how it looked when i brought it back home

and here it looks now after w swapped over the 13 inch steel wheels to 14 inch gti alloys.

Stage 1 was to fit the GTI wheels to it

Stage 2

1: Fit front and rear C58 GTI bumpers.
2: Fit clear front indicator units.
3: Fit Front GTI seats.

Take 1 Galant VR-4 engine with a damaged crank

and add another evo engine

and it gives you a healthy evo engine ready to rebuild and drop into a c5 glx with gti spec parts

the engine and the complete interior is now removed but havnt got round to taking pics but i will when i get a chance.

And here is the donor vehicle for my C5 4G63T AWD project

1990 Mitsubishi Galant GTI 4WD & 4WS, Loaded with all the gadgets like air con and cruise control which will be binned

The whole galant drivetrain will be removed and be used to convert the C5 to AWD along with evo powered, and the galant gti 2 litre engine will be going into the lancer gti so iv got more power in that also to try and keep up with the C5 lol

Just a little update from today.

Andy set about the galant like a mad man today and got the galant front end stripped and has the engine & gearbox ready to be pulled out on monday

4x4 box and transfer case will be put aside to go on the C5 once andy gets the 4x4 setup stripped

the 2.0 galant engine will be going into the lancer once its been rebuilt but im hoping the lancer will be fitted with the new engine and on the road in the next few weeks, i want it done before christmas and at the moment im on track for that

the engine and box are now out and as stated the 2 litre non turbo is going into the lancer while the gearbox and 4x4 is going on this project

note its easier to drop the engine out underneath the car as its a pain to lift it out with the transfer box etc attached and in place

nice project mate. looking forward to see, how you will solve the problem with the electrical connections between engine and gauges. I guess you want to keep as much as possible to look OEM?

Funny enough...in my garage sits a C5 chassis, freshly painted, with an Evo engine in. Going to be completed around christmas. :D

to be honest the wiring isnt to bad, as long as you use the colt gti spec wiring over the glxi wiring

its only if you use glxi 1.5 wiring that you need to do a whole load of rewiring

im lucky as i have both a glxi and a gti c5

the glxi is the better shell so im using the shell from that and transferring all the gti spec wiring etc over to the glxi

im not really looking for the full oem look as there is a lot of JDM parts i like or have already but there is a lot i dont have and i want just like JDM skirts like below
