What engine is in there? An FTO gearbox will fit just fine onto a V6 for example.

Just have a look for a manual gearbox for the same engine used on another car if you can't find one for a Legnum.

The code for manual FWD transmission is F5M42
2.0, 2.4 Gdi and 2.5 V6 uses the same manual transmission, but it is probably used in other cars too

Just had a look in ASA. The same clutch cover piece, which is the first part (150mm or so) of the transmission that bolts onto the engine is actually the same on the 6a13, 6a12 and 4g93 engines.

The main part of the transmission that holds all of the gears is different though between the v6's and the i4. The 4g93 case is unique to the legnums, whereas the case used in the 6a13 fwd legnums is shared with the 6a10 and 6a11 2wd lancers and mirages.

The 2.4 uses the same clutch cover as the 2.0 4g63 and the 2.0 diesel available in europe only. It's main case is the same as the 1.8 4g93 gdi's

Q...just take a look and check the gearbox codes. F5M42 is, what you are looking for.

As explained in the thread about possible manual boxes for VR-4's, this code tells you the shape of the bell housing, no matter on which engine this box was bolted. ;)

cheers

so the viento is a 4GXX motor??

you'll need a manual gearbox from any other 4g with the box on the same side, (as long as its the same sort of years built)

evo box is 4wd, so no good.

evo gearboxes would possibly bolt up, but as Carsten said, they are 4wd.

Evo4-9 will not fit!

It's the right side, but they are W5M51 boxes...so 4WD and different shape of bell housing. This box will bolt onto VR-4 engines.

As said, you need a F5M42 gearbox (e.g. FTO, 8G Galant except VR-4, SpaceWagon or Chariot Grandis, RVR FL)

From my research, yes I beleive that there is a 95% chance that an 02 nz new Galant that shipped with the 4g63 engine WILL fit just fine onto a 4g64 2.4. Stefan should be able to confirm.

Q...tell me the gearbox code, then I am able to confirm. Unfortunately I have no clue, what the car looks like and from which maket it was imported. So I don't know, which ASA to ask... :(

I have checked ASA for the gearboxes from EA1 (1.8l GDI), EA2 (4G63 2L) and EA3 (2.4L GDI) => all the same gearboxes, so I bet the gearbox you have Q, has a F5M42 code :D

if it'S a EA2 Galant, then it will have the correct gearbox :D Q seems to be lucky these days.
