Ok im a little woried and left wondering what was that this morning....

on my way to work in the leggy and hit a traffic jam car was up to running temp and it was very slow moving for 10 minutes....

when we started moving I look in my mirror and to my horror plumes of blue smoke!!!

so I tried to blow it out and put my foot down a little and it cleared within 10-15 secs!!!?!?! and clean as a whistle since?

Any ideas? Turbo on way out maybe? oil leaking into something somewhere?? its a strange one on me... but i've never had a twin turbo before so its all new :undecided
/thankyou

I will check this weekend.... first time I will have been into the boost pipe area ever....

so 'excess' would you mean that there should be some around or am I looking for more then a bit? I should think that there shouldn't be any really, is that right? ;-)

I would expect some dependant on millage etc but some is pretty normall. Excess would be more than say a tea spoon collected in the joins or the dumpvalve for example.

Take one off and post a picture, im sure you will know what excess is when you see it. I find that if its excess it will be very runny as its being added to alot and on a regular basis, if its a slow build up it kinda gets a bit stickier.

Pics will help if your not sure.

old turbo seals I'm afraid, all that ticking over means the tub's are in vacuum for a long time so the seals weep slightly against the negative pressure which means oil gets into the intake but as the air is moving slowly at tickover the oil drops out of suspension until the air moves quick enough to pick the oil back up.

hope that makes sense

I agree with Paul. Find a long down hill section and engine break at reasonable speed all the way down - the car will smoke like a git by the bottom!
