My flatmates Evo is playing up. He hardly uses it as he has a company car. It's an evo 6.5 TME. The other week he started it up and it sounded like a subaru.... After a short drive things improved a bit, but it is still missing/hesitating at around 4-5000 revs. Any idea where he should start looking?
He was going to start with leads and plugs, and it needs a new battery as his is buggered.
Just wondering whether you guys had any advice. He tried looking on nzmmc but searching for 'misfire' or something similar brings up a million results.
I had the same sort of symptoms when I changed my plugs and leads and got the firing order mixed up.
Car only ran on less than 6 cylinders and front end of the car was vibrating all over the place from being so off-balance.
My guess would be to check there first?

Leads and plugs definitely an easy check. And a lot easier than a VR-4! :D

Sweet, I'll get him onto it. Thanks guys!
Use it more, Evo's don't like being used for small drives then being parked up. They foul plugs and do silly things if they haven't been given a good long drive in some time, and just used once and a while to drive round town.

I keep offering to take it for drives for him... but he doesn't seem keen!
Lol, then he needs to take it for more drives, or it will just keep doing that, and cost him more money :P
